OMG, you went through last night without any a/c??? No wonder you
aren't feeling so well.
It got up to 94 yesterday with the humidity also in the 90's and at
10:00 last night it was still 87 out there! Uggggh, plus with the
storms that moved through and tornado watches/warnings all evening, I'm
sure the weather played a huge factor in you not doing so well!
Hope Mike gets the a/c in and you can be more comfortable today!!!

That is one of the main reasons I moved out of NY - the humidity. They
talk about rain out here in WA, but we never get those hot, sticky days
like in NY. I don't even own an a/c anymore...just open the windows :)
I do hear ya on the pain issue though. I hate when I can't sleep and
can't get comfy. Luckily with my weight loss, I don't have the nights I
used to have.

well, we were cooler up here than you were though we had that insane
humidity. Temps upper 80s, humidity upper 90s! I kept wondering how your
lungs were doing with all the water in the air.
Luckily, things eased off so I *can* wear my splints and as long as I do
almost nothing with my right hand (only using 1 or 2 fingers to type!) I can
survive. Folding laundry, even with the splint was a big mistake yesterday
evening. Only thing I did without splint was wash my hair. Loooks like my
left hand is looking at a workout until this calms down some.
Mike did get the a/c in which has helped some. but we are off to spend the
night and his day off in Traverse City and to look around at cars some,
needing a replacement for our deceased Corolla. It's supposed to cool down
some, so we'll turn off the a/c and open the windows for our feline friend.

nann, i hurt for you! i've been there (thinking about home amputation)
several times since 1994. or even professional amputation. i still
think about it sometimes with my left foot. do you have pain meds and
are you using them? splint? paraffin wax bath?
i hope you can take a nap tonight.

I hurt for you, too. Unfortunately, I can't use Prednisone or paraffin wax
bath. So, I depend on the heating pad. The wax bath is too hot for me. My
hands are very sensitive to heat. I can't use Prednisone because I had
cryptococcal sinusitis in 1990 and I was told never to take Prednisone by
mouth because they think that is what allowed the cryptococcus to get a
start in my sinuses. I have to be very careful of all steroids. I have
briefly considered amputation, too, but then I remember the phantom pain and
at least I can put a heating pad or ice pack on a real leg, etc. LOL Hope
you are doing better, Nann.

tramadol & tylenol for pain and i took extra - along with extra zanaflex.
Couldn't even tolerate my splints Friday night, but have lived in one since.
at least it' eased up a bit. funny the fantasies arthritis creates, eh?

yup - could have joined you at 4 this morning but it was my spastic leg this
time. Of course no pain killer touches that so heat, stretching some
painkiller and gravel to help the rest of the body relax enough to be able
to concentrate on relaxations and positions. My sympathy and empathy Nann.
Times like that you can only fantasize and laugh at the outrageous
fantasies. Because we all know the amputations wouldn't be pretty and just
out luck the phantom pain would be out of this world.
Hope tonight is better! And yes hopefully Mike can get that A/C in tonight.

you're probably right - and that's another reason I haven't tried it. It
wouldn't be worth it if the phantom pain was just as bad as the real pain had
been!

(((Nann)))
I've considered amputation a few times myself, but am always convinced that
I'd probably end up with phantom pain that never goes away.:/
Does ice ever help? Maybe if it's completely numb, it won't hurt as bad?
Here...have some hugs. ((((((()))))))

At least, the ice would help the lack of an AC. Is it back up yet? Here
are some hugs, the best kind (no sweaty wrap around!)

Argh! I should have thought of ice and I always haave ice packs in the
freezer! I guess I was just too tired to think right. Maybe this will
remind me to pull them out next time. Ice usually helps some and much more
than heaat does for me.
