Hello,
Windows XP SP2 5.1.2600.3093
My version of WMP11 won't play any type of audio or video file.
the error i keep getting is:
"windows media player cannot play the file. The player might not
support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to
compress the file"
Clicking "Web help" provides error C00D1199
This happens for MP3, WMV, WMA and ASF.
WAV files generate error: C00D11B1
Video files such as AVI or MPEG are playing - but without audio.
Winamp plays all files.
I downloaded "wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe" but that doesn't change
much.
Googling the C00D11B1 suggests an update fro DRM - i performed the
upgrade here: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp
and it was said to be successful - however the error remains.
Looking through the web revealed http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html but
following the suggestions there didn't help.
I tried removing the ID3 info from the files but it didn't help.
What's more, the exact same files play fine on a WMP11 installation i
have on a different computer.
Since WMP11 won't play any type of audio I think the issue is more
fundemental than usual...
Running windows xp video decoder checkup utility shows 4 codecs:
DScaler Mpeg2 video decoder
nero video decoder
JetAudio MPEG decoder
