OT: Janet Evanovich book

On Sun, 18 Jan 2009 17:22:10 -0800 (PST), Heidi <...@yahoo.com

I know we have talked about Janet Evanovich's books on this group
before, so I thought I would give her other fans in the group a head-
up in case they didn't know her new one "Plum Spooky", came out a
couple of weeks ago. I just catalogged it at the library, and have
been enjoying it this weekend, quite a few good chuckles.

Oh my goodness, Heidi. How I do love Evanovich. It will be quite a while
before I can wallow in a special book since we are well underway in emptying
half the house to put in floors - but that will the the First happy treat
for me if I live through this. Please tell me - is her grandmother up to
some more 'no good' ? Polly

On Jan 18, 8:29 pm, "Polly Esther" <...@cableone.netActually, Grandma had only put in a small cameo so far in this one,
but it is in one of those great family dinner scenes. I am about half
way through, so Grandma could be back.

Not to whine about it, Jeanne, - but to replace the floors - first you have
got to find the @#$! things. Tomorrow's Challenge (should I choose to
accept it) is to find the floor in the pantry. I'm not even sure there's
one in there. Polly

wine and oh dam, oops i mean edam.
i lost my floors years ago too.
i have given up hope of ever finding them again.
doesnt matter as i no longer sit on floors, too hard to get up again.
so as long as the chairs dont also disappear i'm ok.
good luck with the pantry.

This brings back one of the horror stories of buying a house. we KNEW she
hadn't cleaned in years..when we moved the fridge there were Kindergarten
pixs from her DD that had just graduated from HS under it. when we moved the
rugs from in front of the stove, the tile was pretty broken up. DS stepped
on it and luckily his Dad was right behind him, his Dad caught him as he
fell thru both the floor AND the sub-floor.
What a mess!
Best thing about living there? We lived at that address almost as long as we
did at the B'splat one. AND we had wonderful neighbors.

Butterfly (NOT implying your floors are in that bad of condition--just a
memory)

I am not familiar with Janet Evanovich's books but sounds like someone
I need to start reading. Should her books be read in a special order?

Susan
As Kathyl indicated, read the books in the numbered order. You can follow
the order because each book has a number in the title. Those are the
Stephanie Plum books. Lively and humorous books. Some of the numbered books
are in combined volumes now. Would that be an omnibus?

Now Janet has a few Stephanie Plum books that are not in the numbered
series. Those she calls 'between the numbers;' shorter books, but just as
much fun.

Janet has some other books that do not include Stephanie; those are some
reissued books she co-authored years ago. They are lively romance type
novels.

Check out the selection at your County Library. Enjoy,

Start with "One for the Money"...then "Two for the Dough"....etc. I
haven't read "Plum Spooky" yet. I haven't been out much in the last couple
months. And I've tried to keep my credit card away from the computer! But
I'm weakening. Fabric and books are calling to me.

I'm not really getting out of the house right now. So the library isn't an
option unless they deliver.

Kathyl, there are probably lots of others but I especially enjoy shopping at
http://www.abebooks.com I find lots of used books I'd like to have there and have
them sorted at lowest price which usually is $ 1.00. My quilting books,
recipe books and just for fun - the latest on how to travel by cargo ship.
Go look. That should keep you entertained and under budget for days and
days. Polly

We can go online and put books on hold. Then they put them in a special
place in the library to be picked up. Maybe you could do something like that
and a friend who might be going to the library would pick them up for you?
If the online option isn't possible, you might try calling the library and
telling them your situation - it's possible they have someone who could pull
the books you want from the stacks and set them aside for someone to pick
up.

Ahhhhhh....sounds like a good idea. I have several friends who would do
this if asked. I guess this is as good a time as any for a
confessional.......I've not much of a library patron. Whew...there! ....I
said it. I used to be....but I found I often didn't get the books finished
before the due date. And being the procrastinator that I am.....I would
neglect to do the easy renewals by phone or online. We have a newly
remodeled local library that I'm told is lovely....and I still haven't been
there.
I also like to reread some of my favorites....like the Plum novels. They
don't take full concentration to enjoy.

Could you reserve/check out the books online and send someone to pick them up
for you?

I'll have to look into it. Right now I'm trying to read some of the books
that have been languishing on my shelves. I do have a few waiting in the
wings without a trip to the library. I'm beginning to focus better than I
have for a while.
