Incongruity

On Fri, 26 Jun 2009 03:55:22 -0700 (PDT), Mr Jinx <...@hotmail.com

I went to see Dylan a few years ago in an English seaside town called
Bournemouth. It was sunny high season and the venue - a glorified
sports hall - was right by the sea so the sparkle from the water
reflected on its dark tinted windows.

Dylan's black tour bus pulled up to the side of the hall and for one
evening the world outside disappeared as we made our way inside.

All day I had been down by the sea thinking about the show. I ate
some fish and chips. There was an odd sense of dislocation there, old
age pensioners walking along the promenade, children with ice creams,
seagulls. It was so hard to square this genteel scene with the
ferocious endeavour of the Never-Ending Tour and the rough-hewn
reality of Bob Dylan. It was incongruous in the extreme. Like
finding a strawberry in the deep blue sea.

Dylan played his set and we spilled out into the warm coastal night
once more. How the hell did the man in the black cowboy hat and suit
fit in with this place? How did he conjure Lovesick when the rays in
SeaWorld glided silently past each other just a few yards away down
the seafront?

After the show with the music and a thousand ideas buzzing in my head
I looked at the sea stretching away in the dark. The black tour bus
pulled away from the venue and it was almost as if nothing had taken
place there at all.

What is this shit, Jinx? Are you writing some dumb " fresh
thoughts I had about this song/album/performance."

There's no question here, nothing to respond to? Are you trying to post
something for the softheads in rmd?

(lemme guess, the next post here will say "troll troll troll."

You create your own reality. You bring on your own trolls.

It was a perfectly nice piece and I enjoyed ready it. Is there
something wrong with that in your book, Bozo?

I was joking Vesper. I'm Jinx's biggest fan here. The cabal tried to
drive Jinx out of here but you should have seen how quiet rmd was when
Jinx was boycotting the place.

With a post like this, V, it's no wonder you were "banished"

I have seen worse in here. I consider myself conservative.

Nah, Vespers reply makes sense when you don't know the history here.

It can be really hard to distinguish the psychotics from the saner
people on a newsgroup.

There's going to be hardly any enemies, just a few psychotics now and
then. But you've got to sort out the sarcasm before you can understand
what people are saying here.

On Jun 26, 5:55 am, Mr Jinx <...@hotmail.comSame thing always happens to me, every time I go to any public event,
be it a concert, a speech, or a rally. Once it's over, and everyone
leaves, it looks as if nothing happened there in the first place, save
for the job left behind for the sweepers.

The only exception is when I went to see Obama speak. The building
glowed with a gold aura for days as it levitated off the ground.
Practically needed a rope ladder or parachute to get out of the place.
Seemed the whole building changed...looked completely different to me
just for the experience. Smelled like cookies too. Weird.

" And Obama has staked his presidency on his belief that Americans
will agree that there can be no more procrastination."

A bet of high order, wouldn't you say?
Goes far to explain the gold aura phenomena.

Good stake, good man, interesting president.
