Dear Myanmar Myo Chits, Patriots,
It is our duty, it is our responsible to make our country in to a
Great Nation.
Democracy it is, then the best democracy . Democracy is like a rough
diamond. How much value, how much it will be worth, depends on the
handler.
We all dream, all our leaders dream for Union of Myanmar to be a "
Pleasent Nation ''.
Democracy was never far away from Myanmar. Myanmar had, Western styled
Multi Party Democracy, & Socialist Democracy . Which ever democracy we
have had, we could not make those democracies take roots in Union of
Myanmar.
Now we are again going for democracy. Back to the future, a Multi
Party Democracy , we have to make sure , the future generations handle
the Democracy with great care.
For that we have to start from the very basis. We need to built more
schools and equip them better , including computers, Information
Technology, etc. We need to train more teachers along new lines and
put modern books in the hands of our children.
Because they are the ones, not us , who will make or shape or break
their future.
The objectives of our leaders and their major target in this field
should be a primary school in every village. There should be more
middle and high schools ,in every towns and cities. Special high
schools offering trainings in industry and agricultural should be
introduced into school system .
Technical and agricultural institutes will give our children ,
vocational and technical training beyond the high school levels. The
Government Technical Institute at Insein. Yangon Technical Institute
at Gyogon, Rangers College , Natmaut Road Poly Technique , Manawhari
Road Industrial schools should be expended .
Professional schools of the University of Yangon should be enlarged
The faculty of engineering at University should be greatly expended to
train more engineers. More medical colleges should also be opened in
al major cities.
As more schools, colleges, institutes and Universities open and
students take their seats in the class rooms , the need for teachers ,
lecturers, professors will be multiply. Government must devise
emergency and long term schemes to train as many competent teachers as
the educational programme requires.
Many out dated text books, are no longer suitable for use in the
educational schools and institutes, of a free independent sovereign
democratic nation, Republic of Union of Myanmar. Most of them have
become obsolete, both in content and in manner of presentation. With
these consideration in view the government should completely revise
old text books and prepare new ones .
The children should be taught, to take pride in Myanmar culture and
cherish Democracy, for freedom is in our blood. We have to teach them
to live a fuller life and to use the tools of modern technology.
Through a conscious and persistent effort to make our children aware
of our rich culture and spiritual heritage , we will instil in them a
pride in our unique culture. We will also teach them to be proud of
our beloved country, the Republic of Union of Myanmar, so that they
will have a sense of belonging together . As they are one people in
one country. We will take care that our culture and national pride
will lead us to accept with good will a peaceful role in the community
of nations.
Through teaching and practicing Democracy in school life , we Myanmars
will instruct future generations to respect and follow the ideals of
Democracy, and tread in path of Peace. Our children will be
encouraged to learn to reconcile difference of opinion by mutual
consent and to make the progress by joint actions.
Though education is our culture and democracy, our children will
develop the will and the spirit to serve their beloved country, the
Republic of Union of Myanmar.
Schools under the old system neglected practical education. We were
not taught useful things. Nor how to live more healthfully . Fine
arts, industrial skills, and general and domestic science held
insignificant positions in the old school curricula. Oue fiture
education programme should remedy these defects.
Through the educational process, each child should receive a general
education. In addition, however, practical educations will be added.
Thus in primary school , in addition to courses in general education
our children should be taught general science, advance science , as
well as handicrafts, animal husbandry, and gardening.
In the middle schools , special courses such as industrial arts ,
commerce , domestic science, agriculture, and animal husbandry should
be included.
In the high schools the pupils may study premedical courses, commerce,
agriculture and animal husbandry , domestic science and industrial
arts.
However those who wish to specialize early, may leave the general
schools after they have completed the middle school, and enroll in
special technical, or agricultural high schools, from which they may
later proceed to the technical or agricultural institutes or enter the
University.
Government should have planned a liberal scholarship programme.
Financial circumstances have denied far too may young people of
promise the opportunity to continue their education. As a result , the
Nation has hitherto lost the benefit of contributions they could have
made to the nation’s progress and welfare. Through a liberal
scholarship programme at every level of education, from middle school
to University, the government should aim to assist such youths.
Those who have both real potential for development and a will to
pursue their education should be assisted to achieve their promise,
and thereby to contribute to development of the nation.
A State Scholarship Programme for study abroad should be introduced,
For advance studies they should be sent to countries all around the
world, mostly to the universities of developed , industrialised
nations. We need to expend exiting programmes further so that each
year we will be able to send more and more, as the nation requires.
These should be our dreams, these are the dreams of our leaders. For
our nation to be called, “ Let’s make, The Future Republic of Union of
Myanmar a “Pleasant Nation”.
Regards,
Sando.
