Re-formatting HD

On Fri, 26 Jun 2009 17:43:05 +0100, Hugh Browton <...@**.not.uk

Dear All

I have had a client call who wants to re-partition his hard drive. He
originally partitioned it with 2 parts, one of 300 GBytes for Boot Camp, and
one of 200 for the OS X.

(He'd like to re-partition it so that the Boot Camp part is smaller.)

There are now re-partitioners for our machines - but this is VolumeWorks
(Spelling error theirs)

"VolumeWorks is not intended for resizing Bootcamp partitions. The use of
VolumeWorks will retain all the files but will render the Windows partition
unbootable (The OS X partition is not effected). Devices must be partitioned
with GPT partitioning (the new standard on intel Macs) or with PDisk
partitioning (traditional Mac format) to work with VolumeWorks"

I've seen a pointer to re-partitioning that adds a third shared partition
which might work.

Drive Genius doesn't mention Boot Camp partitions.

Any ideas for safe re-partitioning?

TIA

Together, they fight crime! No, that's another story. Together, you
should be able to complete the request.

If you can boot a Linux "rescue CD" containing GNU parted, that will
extend NTFS partitions too - for free.

It looks like they're both using the same code - ntfstools!
