D7000 is far ahead of D90..
Even any enter level camera like D3100 or D3200 and D5100 are far better than D90 in terms of image quality .
The D90 was replaced by the D7000 in September 2010 Source(s): proFotog D90 is a outdated .

I have seen on Photozone.de that the Tamron 70-300 f4 - f5.6 is a decent lens.
