noindex tells the search engines to not bother caching your page for inclusion.
Both Yahoo! and Bing (Live) support noindex and nofollow in the meta directives.
The same content under different URLs.

Is there a noindex mod for SMF? I'd like to be able to directly tell Google not to index pages. From what I understand this works better than a robots.txt command list (which I already have implemented).

Note 1: if you block pages with robots.txt, search engines will never visit the page, and so if there is also a meta noindex, then the spider will never see it.

Just correct your site, and go to Google webmaster tools .
Dear you should talk to your hosting providers and let them solve this problem, I also got virus in my site few days ago and my hosting providers solved that issue for me .

Want to add the noindex, follow meta tag to articles I have deleted - moved to trash bin. This in time will reduced the number of 404's as I eventually delete articles all together.

Most Wordpress themes have link to Wordpress' site in the footer.
Is it legal to remove link to Wordpress' site?
PS: I know that I can enclose the link in nofollow/noindex tags, but I want to completely remove the link.
