Nontraditional means not living on campus and no help from parents. And I know that's not the actual definition but assume for the purposes of this conversation it is. Should they get foodstamps? Yes or no Yes...

I don't think students should....
I'm not sure if having a kid made a difference, but they never hassled me about being a student (full time) .
I received food stamps for a couple of years as a student, but I worked 30-35 hours a week and was a single parent .

I'm no expert on the texas fresh start rule, but it basically wipes your entire record clean and you have to complete... .
If I remember it right, all courses over 10 years will not count anymore .
You can always move to Texas and use their academic fresh start .
