Thanks for drawing out dissappointment you s. I hope you get lumps somewhere and the doctor makes you check back in 1 month to find out if it's cancer and then wait 3 more days to tell you if it's a lipoma vs pancreatic cancer. DIAF.

Is there any way to contact the nrmp to see if a mistake was made in the matching process, the NRMP would investigate (since the program you matched to is sure to complain) and you would likely find another one...

I know that theoretically the more places you rank, the better your chances at an interview.
But on closer examination, I'm not so sure if thats true for competitive specialties.
For example, lets say you rank 20 programs. For a very uncompetitive specialty...

Have you read the NRMP's website on the match algorithm? It works exactly the same, no matter how competitive programs, you would have to go further down your list.

The underlying question I'm trying to ask is: what limits a residency program to a certain number of slots? I realize programs are accredited for a certain number of residents... but is that limitation...

Why does the NRMP charge for a rank list that has more than 20 programs on it? If you interviewed at that many programs, why should you have to pay $30 for each one above 20? It's not like by applying to programs, where too many applicants will flood ...
