Directgov states i must get someone to countersign....
Take another photo with you if you think it will matter, so they can compare pictures .
Children's photos vary so much, a baby photo doesn't look like the child a year later .
Problem solved.
Just get it signed.

Ive found that most countries you travelAs long as the passport is valid for the length of your stay, it is fine.
Of Europe tend to want at least 6 months on the passport.
