Easy Transfer was of great help transferring XP to W7U on a new motherboard. Could it be used to transfer from 32 bit to 64 bit W7U on the same machine, 64-bit capable? (The reason for the question is somewhat annoying. I recently replaced my M/B / CPU...

I have a 500 Gb external USB disk. In W7 Ult it is recognised as a disk, given a drive letter and works fine. In W7 Home Premium on my wife's laptop, it comes up as a disk icon in 'Printers and Devices', has no drive letter, and apparently cannot be read...
