If you can go on one of the days Hersheypark is open, your son would probably in the path the Liberty Bell took to Philadelphia.

It features Germantown Avenue which has a lot of quaint restaurants and shops (or shops *made* to look quaint per the building codes) .
Chestnut Hill is an old-money "streetcar suburb" on the NW tip of Philly .
