Hi ,
I have a C33 preamp and I use the phono stage for my turntable. Is there anything to be gained
by switching over to a more modern external phono amp? The C33 sounds fine to me but I have nothing
excellent phono stages.

However, the phono section of the 1050 (while decent) is not stunning, and just not loud enough for my
liking.
Would it be worth the $150.00 (or so) to invenst in a decent little phono pre-amp?
If so, what
You shouldn't need a phono pre. Can't you just turn it up a little more. Seems like it should have

Is the phono stage on the C4000 any good?
I ask as my Sunfire Tube Preamp has no phono stage
and I picked up a tremendous turntable recently.
Is it worth going for an outboard phono amp
phono stage as standard equipment. His only alternative is an external black box Phono Preamp.-thanx

What is the life span for a phono cartridge that has never been abused? Assuming you can still get
a replacement stylus, is a 30 year old phono cartridge any good?

RQ-970BX, easily found for around $100.
I'm not that big a fan of the NAD and Music Hall phono stages
and Music Hall phono stages, they're just ok. I'm using a Grado ZF3+ cartridge.. (sorry, forgot

I'm using a Kenwood KR-9600 as my receiver but I'm using a NAD 7020 as a phono preamp stage [via
the tape outs] as the 7020's phono stage is much more lucid than the Kenwood. The cartridge is a Shure
The 1020, 3020, 7020 preamp section was quite good. The phono stage was better than it should have
