Hi,
Currently I am saving a UIImage to the photos album using UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum, which works fine.
Is there a way to then open the Photos app showing the just-saved photo? (I assume my app must close before opening Photos, which is fine.)...

Then the user can click.
But as a workaround you can open the album where you saved the photo using UIImagePickerViewController.
It is not possible to open the photos app.
An enhancement request.

How can I save and open photos from the iPhone's photo library from my app? Code would be helpful.

The best you can do is saved off a picked photo in your own app writable....
To the photo album:

When I use FF or Chrome to look at photos on Facebook, and save the photos to the hard drive, the photos will be saved as JPG, which is what the photo is originally.
But once in a while when IE 8 is used, the photo will be saved as BMP. (try the ones ...

Here's an MSKB artcicle dealing with the matter:
Internet Explorer saves images as bitmaps (.bmp Files)
and here's a possible solution for the problem with IE7/8
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Internet Explorer Settings
Click the Reset... .

Here are some photos I took on Saturday at Mazfest 2009 at Auto Club Speedway. This was my first time taking photos at a track and my lens was playing up and not always auto focusing. I will post more as I crop them etc.

Are color laser printers good enough to print photos? Or they too expensive and produces low quality photos?

Xerox has a list ....
For the rich color and glossy finish of photos photo printer .
If you want to print for speed and "business graphics" (think pie charts) .
From what I've found, no they are not good enough for decent photo prints.
