You don't use field pumpkins for pie,those are for jack-o-lanterns.You need a pie pumpkin.To make a real pumpkin pie, you have to peel the pumpkin, dice it in about 1 inch cubes, and cook it in some... The "guts" are not used for making pies. You just throw them out. Use the pumpkin for the pie. Peel
