I guess because its red because it looks red from a telescope Mars is called the red planet because the break down of iron rich rocks creates a rusty dust on the planet.

I got a bunch of coral for free yesterday and I think one is a faded (green) red planet. I placed it as high as I could in my tank, roughly 10 inches from the light. (6" from the surface and bulbs sit roughly 3-4" above surface). Lighting is 4x24w T5HO...

I don't think T5 's would be enough to get the full red planet color, no matter how high T5 's would be enough to get the full red planet color, no matter how high you had it.

So I haden't seen really too much color change in this frag if it was indeed a red planet and I was thinking that I would have seen some red by now! It's been a few weeks now. Then noticed around the side that there was a slightly more pinkish color.....
