Backspring Question Does it hurt anything to have a small gap between the backspring and the brass liner one one side of a pocketknife? Last edited by winchester73; Today at 02:08 PM .

But when the gap is too big, it could cause blade-wobble .
But that doesnt do anything against the function of the knife .
I have some gaps on some of my knives at the same place .

Im in the process of buying a sailboat. Its our first one so it will be small and will not have a built in gun safe. Im looking for a bag to carry a pistol, pocketknife, and probably wallet and cell phone. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

What kind of sailboat are you looking for? I've owned a few over the years .
I like to have my knife on my person while sailing, lots of loose lines around .
A small dry box or bag, available at marine stores .
Any ideas for where to get a nice US made folding pocketknife? Preferably something classic style with some wood inlay or something. Benchmade? Marbles?Wedding is Sept 1st. All 3 of my groomsmen are outdoorsy dudes and I think theyd love a quality knife...

Knives 24.99, engraving 5 each....
Got them at scheels and Cabelas.
I had their name engraved on them.
They are a polished stainless steel.
I got my groomsmen buck brand knives called the nobleman .

Oiling old bone? I'm looking at an old pocketknife. It has a tiny crack in the bone scale at the pin, but otherwise looks like it was never used. Can bone crack from something like temperature changes or dryness? Would putting mineral oil on help prevent...

I use RemOil....
A lot of guys use mineral oil on their covers with no problems .
Most likely, the crack in the cover you're talking about is a stress crack although dryness and extreme temperatures can contribute to cracks in bone and other materials too .
