Need a function call that is designed solely to get the count of posts matching a criteria. I believe the get_posts() function is too expensive for this operation. I'm merely trying to decide whether or not to show a "View More Posts" link when there ...

I got an email alert today about a new reply being made to a TerraClips thread (the one about Sewers Photos). When I followed the link, I found that the last post was made back on 6/12. Is this a bug of some sort or did someone post SPAM and it got deleted...

From time to time, spammers will post deleted quite a few spam posts....
Yeah, that'll happen sometimes.
But do let us know if it happens again.
Fairly certain that someone posted and the post was deleted for one reason or another.

I'm trying to figure out how to modify the homepage for my wordpress setup.
I want to display the 2 latest posts on the homepage ...
HOWEVER , by clicking on the 'previous' link, i'll be taken to page 2 which will list everything at 10 posts...

Has there been an increase in Posts relating to HDJ80's over the past year or 2 or is it a Decrease in Petrol Posts?

Many of the diesel engine posts are usually fuel pump / injector more diesel 80s than petrol.
Mike Judging by the type of posts and topics, it seems the petrol engines are easier to diagnose and simpler / cheaper to fix.

On my homepage I have a list of posts, and at the top I want to show only the most recent "sticky" post, followed by the rest of the posts. Is there a way to achieve this?
Bonus points for only using one query_posts() .

This is doing is modifying the sql query used to pull the posts.
