Addie's post in the dinner thread made me wonder what made a pot roast a Yankee pot roast. According to Wikipedia, it's just another name for the same dish. Your thoughts?

It's a regular pot roast that red sox fans choke on...
I want to make pot roast in the crock pot tomorrow and I would love some suggestions or even a recipe. The last few times I attempted pot roast the meat was tough and chewy, almost dry - which I can figure out because it was in the crock all day in liquid...

Add carrots and then the pot roast on top.
What kind of roast did you use - do you remember? I regularly put a chuck roast in the crock pot,water, onion soup mix together in crock pot.

Slow cooker pot roast needs a recipe??? I don't think I've ever made it the same way twice.
Also add for sloppy joes.
Add one or two onions cut into wedges.
Brown the roast before putting it in the crock pot.

A friend of mine adds a bottle of guiness to her pot roast.
Slow cooked a shoulder roast 6 hours at 225* yesterday for supper. Onions, carrots, butternut squash, and pumpkin with mashed potatoes and a salad. It was good!

I also use chuck ....
I vote chuck roast! DH even makes a delicious pot roast with a chuck roast.
It has more fat and when cooked for a long.. .
For pot roast, crock pot or oven, you want chuck roast.
This recipe makes quite a lot of sauce. How much meat you have depends on what size roast you use. You could use a 4-5 pound one and feed 8 or a 1-2 pound one and feed fewer people. I suppose you could halve the ingredients for the sauce but the leftover...

Am going to try the chicken chasseur from MM Food Club in the crock pot next.
Tasted great.
Everything in a pan (searing/boiling up etc) and then put everything in the crock pot for 6 hours on high.
