Where to get EOS Utility, ZoomBrowser EX, Digital Photo Professional and EOS Capture.: Canon EOS-1D / 1Ds / 5D Forum: Digital Photography Review

Hi I’m looking for a little help in tracking down all the Canon software that came with my 1Dmk2, as in EOS Utility, ZoomBrowser EX, Digital Photo Professional and EOS Capture. I’m after losing the original disc somewhere and I have a new PC on which I want to install all the Canon software. I have found this web page http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=12012 But its all updaters and not full versions of the software and you need the programmes already installed to update them! Does anybody know where to download the full version of all of the above. Any help would be great Thanks Paul

Thanks > Paul That's exactly the same question I have, but I was told by a Canon Rep that I would have to purchase a new copy of the disc.

Replacement discs can be purchased from Canon direct - I was Quote: d $20. Note that if you have a Canon P&S camera you can load THAT software on your computer and you'll then be able to download the updates to use as full versions.

The customer service told me that the updates simply scan your hard drive for ANY Canon software, it need not be related to SLR software.

Just a tip in case you have Canon P&S software laying around -- http://homepage.mac.com/stephkimball/.Pictures/me5.jpg

Thanks Steph When I read your tip about any Canon software on your PC I just remember I still have an empty box from my broken Canon G5 compact. I just checked the box and it has the Canon Digital camera Solution disk in it with all I need on it!! Thanks every else too!

AH Sweet... I happen to have a P& S somewhere under the bed...(I give it no respect)... Steph Quote: : >

What Canon calls updaters are actually full versions of their software.

They simply check for the presence of registry keys.

The following instructions work for Windows: 1) In your favorite text editor, paste the following: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\DPP] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\EOS Utility] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\PhotoStitch] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX] 2) Save the text file as Update.reg.

Note that the extension must be .reg and not .reg.txt 3) Open the file.

It will prompt you "Are you sure you want to add the information ...?" Click Yes. Voila, now you can make clean installs of your favorite Canon applications straight from the updaters.

Your sugestion It dosen't work: "Cannot import D:\Update.reg:The specified file is not a registry script. you can only import registry files from within the registry editor"
