Workabees Mothers' Day weekend - Topic Powered by Prevention.com

I haven't started the thread in a while, so I figured it was time. Of course last time I did, someone else did too, and we ended up using the other one. Hi Margie, I forgot to ask about the marathon/hal marathon in HB...when is it??

I may be interested in the half, it would be fun to do together if your interested . We have a huge race here on Super Bowl Sunday that I've done 6 times.

It starts at the Hyatt on PCH and they close the streets and it goes north on PCH, back around and through Central Park.

It's a major event here so I'm wondering about the Prevention race. Do you have a link to it? PE Princesselaine (PE) Community Host Alternative Health and Remedies Forum Anti-aging Advice & Tips Forum Blog

Oh, I just saw the Prevention Walk is in Long Beach.

Is that the one you meant??? That's a great course, too.

I'm spoiled though and like the HB race as I can walk to the start line and crawl home where driving and parking for races is always such a hassle. PE Princesselaine (PE) Community Host Alternative Health and Remedies Forum Anti-aging Advice & Tips Forum Blog

The week is over.

And that is the best that can be said for it.

I know I saw something about HB somewhere, and I thought it was on these boards;

Maybe within the walking forum?

But you're right, the Prevention Walk is in Long Beach. Joyce asked me yesterday about walking.

I haven't been training for anything, so haven't done any "long" walks in quite a while.

Just my usual hour-long walks 3 days a week (or so).

I'm sorta itching to, but don't have quite the enthusiasm for it as I did before because of the time commitment involved in training for a long walk (bringing my camera, at least, gives it a secondary purpose...

I've gotten some great photos on my walks).

I want to see and do other things, like climb a few of the mountains we have around here;

I can get in miles that way. And right now if the weather cooperates, my top priority is to get the garden planted, and maybe put a few annuals out front for additional color, since the tulips are waning and the masses of grape hyacinths won't last much longer, either.

The next things to bloom would be either iris or columbine.

Most of the iris aren't doing so well;

I think they're in too shady a spot (when we first moved here, ~28 years ago, the tre in the front yard was pretty puny...

Now despite having lost a few major branches due to wind storms, it and our northern exposure puts most of the yard in the shade.

Having a shady front yard has its perks, but being able to grow showy blooms isn't one of them. Senior Prevention Forum Host: Health Alerts Forum "What's for Dinner?" Hi KM. Sorry the week did not go well.

At least it's the weekend, one where we moms get to do what we want (or should). Senior Prevention Forum Host: Health Alerts Forum "What's for Dinner?" Can't remember if the Beez have discussed these or not. http://www.someecards.com/ Some of them should appeal to our rather warped sense of humor (some of them are just out right stoopid or mean)

I might send this one to LE: http://www.someecards.com/uplo...ree_to_not_give.html

Your assessment is right-on, KM! I like this one: Senior Prevention Forum Host: Health Alerts Forum "What's for Dinner?" Forum Yoga & Pilates Forum Check out my blog here at Prevention! "The way to be slim is to act like a slim person." 166.5/148/126 Started South Beach 10/6/03

I should go finish mowing the yard.

Thursday night I got the front down with seconds to spare beefore the clouds opened up.

The back and side are still not done and will probably need a baler.

The front might even need cutting again. KM

Love that one Margie!!!! PE Princesselaine (PE) Community Host Alternative Health and Remedies Forum Anti-aging Advice & Tips Forum Blog

Now that is one seriously good site, which I have just bookmarked. Sorry KM.

But at least you aren't at w today.

Having "internet connectivity" problems. Just lost a post where I waxed poetic about the trees budding out, some flowering, and thankful that I'm not allergic to all the beauty that's awakening where I live. Need to do yoga and then go for a walk with DH and the dogs and my camera.

And then grocery shop. Senior Prevention Forum Host: Health Alerts Forum "What's for Dinner?" Forum Yoga & Pilates Forum Check out my blog here at Prevention! "The way to be slim is to act like a slim person." 166.5/148/126 Started South Beach 10/6/03

Love the Obama E card, very true in my humble opinion. No idea what is going on for Mother's day, H just sent me a text asking me what we were doing.

He left before I got home from taking DD1 to piano, dunno where he went.

He could be out getting stuff for me or Home Depot or the shooting range, who knows. Margie blooms in the shade are actually not as hard as I thought.

Now I don't know your area for planting but impatiens, foxglove, calla lily, bleeding hearts and begonias all do well in those conditions.

At least they are doing well in their new home in my shady front yard. As long as we are sitting here together we have everything

Grass cut. Not going to rake.

I don't rake. DH can do that when he comes back.

Course I will probably have to cut again by Tuesday. Wanted to w outside today, but I think our promised high of 64 has come and gone.

It is now 57 down from 62 at 5 this morning.

And the winds are 25 gusting to 35.

Think I'll w on inside stuff.

This one seems quirkily appropriate: Senior Prevention Forum Host: Health Alerts Forum "What's for Dinner?" Forum Yoga & Pilates Forum Check out my blog here at Prevention! "The way to be slim is to act like a slim person." 166.5/148/126 Started South Beach 10/6/03

Oh no, I've created a montster. Step away from the someecards MK.

And no one will get hurt.

Yes, you've created a monster KM. I've bookmarked it too.

It's a wonderful day here. I'll bee outside doing stuff. I started mowing my lawn yesterday, but the battery died on the electric mower. I'll finish today. Good choices of shade flowers, CRed. I just got a couple of flats of impatiens and lobelia to do my window boxes outside my kitchen windows.

Quote: : DD2: so apparently i got an A+ on my CS exam and an A in the class.

And i got an A- on my stats exam and an A- in the class.

But i thought i did awwwful on both of those exams.

Not bad though?? Got to love her don't I?

Well done KM's DD2!

Another case of small minds hurting kids because they can.

Poor Kid It is hot hot hot here, already in the mid 80's and pretty humid for May.

Of course we have had a ton of rain this week so everything being soggy with heat isn't helping. As long as we are sitting here together we have everything

DD2 is so confused sometimes.

I'm glad she did better that she thought she had.

When she called me, she was total convinced that she had just bombed both finals.

CRed scary how much power that school board has! But they're only trying to save that kid from the evils of rock and roll.

Rox - that B&E in your neighbourhood must leave you shaking. At least the kid was caught!

Love the cards! It's warm here too, but I am not complaining. The life of bees is like a magic well.

The biggest problem with not having the DD's home anymore...

That's why I thought of you.

It is now very cloudy and I've decided the best use for this afternoon is a nap.

Pass the flannel and keep the noise down.

So landed up not w'ing out this morning.

Just couldn't get myself out of house.

But took a long walk.

Memorial service this afternoon. No headache Tee, although feeling uncomfortable, because, well you all know.

So far I haven't had any discernible P1 side effects.

Maybe a little tiredness, but hard to tell when you're w'ing NS and you're always tired.

I really haven't had those issues with P1 except for the first go-round with it. I am down from 135 on Tuesday morning to 131 now, the goal is to get below 125.

My goal is to bee less than I am now. Down 1 lb in support of you p1 gals. I recently sent 7 lbs away, got complacent and gained 8 back.

Thinking of you this afternoon Lurka.

Gorgeous day here...sunny, slightly breezy, projected high around 75.

Am considering lazing on the hammock out back... KM, congrats to your DD2 for those fabulous results! Cred, I read about that case on Yahoo this morning.

Kinda reminded me of Footloose.

I think it's really pathetic they are doing that to him when it's only 2 weeks until he graduates anyway!!! Quote: : Rox - that B&E in your neighbourhood must leave you shaking.

At least the kid was caught! Yeah, it always surprises me when stuff like that happens around here, cuz it doesn't happen often.

When I saw it in the local paper, I got DS#1's school directory and the 17 yr old who did it wasn't in the directory, but his brother was listed in there.

A neighbor was saying on the news that rumor was the 17 yr old is messed up on drugs.

Sad. Quote: : I recently sent 7 lbs away, got complacent and gained 8 back. Sad to say...I've been there recently too.

We have all been there.

Two tickets to alaska for me.

Need to book about 27 more to bee where I would like to be (ie back to my size 4's);

22 is probably more reasonable

Hello Bees, Haven't had any ill-Phase 1 side effects, but maybee that's because I was eating Phase 3 yesterday!

Was really worth it;

Even overstressed NB had a good time.

(Erased listing of menu for other Phase 1 sisters.) Still, my scale showed a smaller number this morning...a number I haven't seen in a while, so I'm good. The last time I did Phase 1, it was the only time I went the full two weeks...and it was pretty easy.

It helped that I had beans in my diet, made sure I wasn't too low in sodium, and drank plenty of water. Anybody watch Rescue Me ...?

It's raw, but the last few episodes have been pretty good.

I got hooked this season. I've seen the someecards beefore.

Love some of them. Beautiful day here, and I need to get out in it.

Will catch up on yesterday's thread later...but Lurka, did you get your dish? Isabelle (Is/Iz) Community Forum Host for Weight Loss Success Stories , Popular Diets & Recipe Exchange . My Blog

Yes he showed up at 6:20 (with a 12-4 slot), said it would take an hour.

Took 1:45 minutes. But it is taken care of.

Complaint in. We are sorry email in return. Whatever. And P3 isn't bad.

It is P8 that is the problem.

Tiredness gone.

Congratulations on all the pounds off to Alaska everyone But don't you want to send them somewhere near the Equator where they'll melt instead of hanging around frozen? Lurka, a long walk is a workout too The life of bees is like a magic well.

Jackie - if I remember correctly we are sending the pounds to a rest home in Alaska, where the folks would appreciate the extra fat to help keep them warm.

Ah! There must be very thin people in rest homes in Alaska The life of bees is like a magic well.

Quote: : There must be very thin people in rest homes in Alaska Well, my limited contributions wouldn't fatten them up.

It must bee v confusing to them when we play the give and take game.

Not to mention the airlines.

Wonder how they serve lbs drinks. The real origins is that a friend of mine was in a conference in alaska when we were talking about shedding unwanted lbs.

I mentioned sending them somewhere, and Alaska was on my mind.

Tee's explanation makes more sense however, so perhaps we should rewrite history. Oh and I am supposed to bee at the memorial service but I managed to get very very lost finding it.

Realized that by the time I did find it (if I ever did), it would be an hour into the ceremony and I didn't want to cause a disruption.

Just emailed my friend with apologies. (Will admit although I feel badly about not beeing there, having to carefully not eat anything wouldn't have been fun.)

Speaking of jello (not that we were, but if we were) http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/...d=111&entry_id=39743

That better be SF jello young lady!!

You're on P1 you know, you're not even allowed to look at the regular kind. Just finished some yummy brussel sprouts.

It could be SF jello...it sets up the same. I loved the View From Alcatraz!

Quote: : speaking of jello ...but my mother told me not to play with my food.

Too bad you didn't make it to the service, Lurka. I'm thinking of you anyway. Fanks for clearing up the Alaska thing. I thought I knew, but it's good to get the real story.

I'm all cleaned up from gardening. Had a bath in the new tub! DH has the bathroom almost completed. And now I'm going to a Mother/Daughter Mothers' Day spa night at the local pool/rec complex.

My DD is taking me, and one of her DDs is taking her.

You have an affluent gd. But on m's day, of course. Have fun. And we are almost on page 2.
