AMS, Hyperic, tc server, product offerings - Spring Community Forums

Hi, Was wondering if someone could go into more detail on Spring AMS. This site doesn't have any clickable links: http://www.springsource.com/products/ams and I can't find much commentary other than the blogs mentioning the betas about the future of AMS. I'm familiar with Hyperic and we currently use it in production -- great tool. I understand that AMS will allow me to see metrics on my spring beans, which is exactly what I want.

What I was hoping to understand was: - does the AMS hyperic installer function like a normal hyperic server installation + spring beans?

Or is some hyperic functionality removed? - what version of hyperic server is running?

How far is it behind Hyperic latest stable? - does spring tc server include AMS?

Does it include the instrumented jars of spring framework etc?

Or is there no relationship b/w spring tc server and AMS Would be great if spring could eventually publish a matrix....

I would also like to see more detailed Info on AMS available. You can however download a 90 day trial version of TC server to check all this for yourself.

AMS is currently packaged with tc Server, but AMS's features are being fully integrated into SpringSource Hyperic HQ software. Here is a link to the current AMS documentation: http://static.springsource.com/proje...mentation.html But you can also see the product page for HQ here: http://www.springsource.com/products/hyperic HTH, Jason

So it seems as if AMS is indeed part of tc server now?

There is no separate download anymore?

That is correct. When you download tc Server, you get an installer program that allows you to install the AMS server and/or agents as well.

The instrumented jars are not currently offered as part of the tc Server distro.

You get those only through purchase of SpringSource Enterprise. AMS is based off of HQ Enterprise Edition v3.2.5.

We did not remove any HQ features, but we are only distributing a subset of HQ plugins. As Jason mentioned, we are actively working on merging the additional AMS features (such as dynamic discovery of instrumented Spring components as well as your own MBeans) into HQ, so that we are working off a single product line going forward.

We will have an upgrade path for existing AMS users. Stay tuned for more details on that.

Sorry for any confusion while we are in flux!

Javaguy44, The product page should not have been taken down yet (not until the HQ +AMS integration is complete).

We have an issue open to put the AMS page back up.

But for the mean time here is the evaluation page for AMS - http://www.springsource.com/products...ite-evaluation Thanks for pointing this out to us. Jason

I may not be here at noon--but does it count if I make it later when I get home?
