Firefox encountered a problem - CNET Windows XP Forums
I will be working away and all of sudden I will get a pop up that says" firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close." Why am I received this notice.
I also get the same from Outlook express encountering a problem.
I know something is wrong but dont know what.
I have winxp home edition/ service pack 2.
Amd Athlon XP 2800+ and 2.07 GHz, 512 MV of Ram.

It's not uncommon for such errors to occur from time to time, but if they are ocurring on a regular basis, it may be necessary to re-install the software.

Are you referring to reinstalling outlook express and updating firefox?
If I was to reinstall outlook express how would I do it?
Do I have to delete the outlook express I have now or can I just reinstall it over the one I have now?

(It's a package deal.) As far as Firefox goes, you'd have to uninstall/delete it then reinstall.

Yes I am having problems with outlook express,and dont know how to use it, everytime I use it ,pop up says error,How can I fix it??

If you don't tell more about the error, it's impossible to give a cure.
But I would start to make a new Windows acccount and try there.
That shows if it's a problem of the program itself (bad program) or a problem of the current account (good program, bad setting, bad file).

While using Firefox is a good first move, you almost completely negate all the security benefits you get from it when you use Outlook Express.
Outlook Express uses the IE engine to display ALL messages, so it's just as open to spyware attack as IE.
If you have two apps that are both crashing a lot, chances are you've either got some sort of foreign software on your system (spyware), or you've got a hardware problem, such as bad RAM.
I'd start by scanning your system for spyware with the three main free programs.
Once you clear out anything you've got, stop using Outlook Express.
Download a copy of Mozilla Thunderbird.
It should import your mail and most settings from Outlook Express.
If you DON'T find any spyware with all three programs, you've probably got some faulty hardware.
First guess would be the RAM.
