Which has the best games, xbox360 ps3 or wii?? - CNET Games & gear Forums
Ok well im not a major gamer but my parents said theyd get me a new game console for my birthday.
I havent played many video games.
Some of the ones that ive played and really liked are ones like Final Fantasy, SIMs, and Guitar Hero.
I was hoping that you could help me out and tell me which game console has the most games that i would like based on those three.
Also if you have any coments or pros and cons or anything on any of the game consoles i would love to hear them.
Thanks for your help.

Right now, based on what you've said, it's kind of a tossup between all three.
The 360, strangely enough, has the biggest selection of RPGs along the lines of Final Fantasy.
None of them are quite on the same level as Final Fantasy, except maybe Star Ocean 4, but they're of a similar nature.
On the other hand, the PS3 has PSX PS2 back compatibility (in some models), and they both had RPGs out the wazoo.
Final Fantasy 7-12 (11 is on the 360, but it's a MMORPG), Persona's 1-4, Xenosaga 1-3, Star Ocean 2 and 3, Grandia 1-3...
If you like tactical/strategic RPGs then there's also games like Stella Deus and the absolutely hilarious Disgaea (haven't played Disgaea 2 or 3).
The PS3 also has some of the gems from the 360, like Eternal Sonata, and BioShock (one of the best FPS I think I've ever played).
The PS3 will be getting Final Fantasy 13 at the same time as the 360, but only the PS3 will get Final Fantasy 13 Verses.
But you shouldn't discount the Wii with Zelda, Mario, and Metroid Prime.
The Wii is much more casual gamer oriented.
If you just like being able to pick up a game, play it for 10-30 minutes at a time, and put it back down.
You'll have to decide which of those sounds the best to you.
I might even suggest seeing if you could wrangle a Wii and a PS2 given that those two combined will still probably cost less than a PS3, and all you lose out on are the relatively few RPGs that have been made for the 360 and PS3.
The PS3 uses software emulation for backwards compatibility now, unless you can find one of the launch models sitting on some store shelf somewhere (which would be worth a small fortune on ebay) so support may be spotty.
The PS2 still has full hardware backwards compatibility with the PSX, and it's cheap at like $130US last I saw.
Add the $250 for a Wii, and that's about $400US with tax.
Probably about the same as a decent PS3 after tax, and not that much more than a 360 Pro.
Just a thought anyway.
I would float the idea past them, but not push it if you meet with any kind of resistance.
Times are tough these days, so the fact that they're willing to drop that kind of money on you for your birthday should be symbolically huge.

Just to update you, the PS2 is now $99.00.
Sony just released this information.
I think the PS2 would be a great buy just because of the library of games it has, and somewhat decent graphics (compared to the new generation of consoles).

I would like to start off by sating that I own the 360, PS3, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube so I have no prejudice towards any (I bought th eWii for my daughters).
I recommend that you think long and hard on two critical factors that will likely decide which console to get, 1) price, since your parents are buying it they may not just pay any price, 2) what types of games do you like to play.
I recommned that of the modern consoles such as the 360 and PS3 (I don't consider the Wii a modern one because other than it motion controller, which I am not a big fan of, its got nothing going for it) the 360 clearly has way more games available.
Both MS and Sony make excellent games that are exclusive to their systems, so if you absolutley must play Killzone 2 or Halo 3 you must buy the PS3 or 360 respectively.
Of the current crop of PS3s the 40 GB is not backward compatible at all, does not do emulation, and I canot be certain of the current 80 or 160 GB systems.
If they are, I am pretty sure most PS2 games are not currently playable, but I would check Sony's web site to be sure.
The 360 is backward compatible, through emulation, with better than 75% of the Xbox games.
The PS2 has the largest library of games, but few new games are geing made for it, and it is very possible that this could the last year Sony continues to make them, though I guess they will actually stop by early 2010.
Since you are generally a casual gamer and if you absolutley must play Mario, Zela, or Metroid Prime (the one made the Wii is supposed to be the last one though) then the obvious choice is the Wii, though be careful as the majority of games for the Wii are crap (just read the independent game magazines).
Even the ones that are ported to the Wii from the PS3 and 360 are not nearly as good, and Nintendo has literally no standards for the games developer's produce for the Wii.
If you think you might go online and play games then there really is only two choices, the 360 and PS3, although the 360 has the best online experience in my opinion it currently costs $50 a year and the PS3 is free (but you get what you pay for).
I hope you find this formation helpful.

I own xbox 360, ps3, gamecube, wii, ps2 and the xbox 360 is in use more than any other by far.
Xbox live is much bettert han any sony service and the xbox only games are getting to be as good as the nintendo only games.
Gears of war, halo series, plus download content makes 360 a better system than than ps3 imo.
When it comes to games on multiple systems we tend to buy the ones with online content for the xbox 360 and ones we will only play solo for the ps3.
I like to think the ps3 has better graphics but honestly I cant see a noticable difference.
Games like oblivion and fallout3 we play on xbox 360 so we can quickly add downloadable content.
Maybe ps3 will come out with some sony only games we will want to play but xbox360 dominates our game time atm.
xbox live is very easy to use, I usually browse a game or movie or downloadable add-on from my pc, select send to xbox360 option and next time I turn on the xbox it is ready to download.
