The All-time All-new York Team - NYYFans.com Forum

The idea for this thread was inspired by a poster i saw in a deli on vacation, which included paintings of about 20 or so all-time new york baseball superstars.

It made me think, it would be a great topic for discussion and debate if people filled out their own roster for an all-time all-new york team. This can obviously include all-time players from the yanks, mets, giants and dodgers, including any current players who deserve a spot on this team (I can think of one, maybe two).

Fill out an entire 25-man roster if you like, including manager and we'll even throw in bench coach for fun.

I am going to give this thread some more thought before i post my selections, but i wanted to put it out there for people. There are clearly some obvious selections that belong on this roster, but at the same time i think the pitchers and bench players will produce some good debates.

Enjoy!

For the OF you just have to give a HM to Duke Snider and Tommy Heinrich So many, many more it's impossible to choose Andy

How about Red Rolfe or Graig Nettles at 3rd?

The Duke IMO was not quite in Willie or Mickey's class (a notch below), but being a HOFer, he gets a spot on the bench.

Tommy "Ol Reliable" Heinrich was a clutch performer for the Yanks, but he falls into the class of really good players who were not quite HOFers, and there's a big bunch of those. On further thought, I would revise my list by deleting Guidry (sorry Gator) and replacing him with Red Ruffing, Al Lopez, or maybe Newcomb..

And I might have to reconsider McCarthy as a manager, since John McGraw might be the greatest manager of them all.

Gehrig has to be number 1, followed by Bill Terry and Donnie.
