Http://www.bls.gov/news.release/mmls.nr0.htm Of the 4 census regions, the Midwest registered the highest number of initial claims in March due to mass layoffs (81,957), followed by the South (61,432) and the West (55,505).

(See table 5.) Initial claims associated with mass layoffs increased over the year in all 4 regions, with the Midwest (+47,072) and the South (+33,335) experiencing the largest increases.

In 2009, all four regions reported their highest March levels of average weekly initial claims in program history. Like Mike Gallager has to help Disabled people get Social security benifits and dose so well he can place TV adds for it!

Http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...npagoda28.html Proposed Seattle high-rise now faces foreclosure! Backers of a mammoth downtown Seattle high-rise project, placed on hold last summer, now could lose part of the property in foreclosure proceedings. About half the site of the proposed Heron and Pagoda towers will be sold to the highest bidder in June unless the developer pays off a past-due loan on the property, according to a notice filed with King County. The $900 million project, across Fifth Avenue from the Westin Hotel between Stewart and Virginia streets, was among the most ambitious Seattle skyscraper proposals to surface during the recent real-estate boom. New York developer Multi Capital Group filed permit applications for two 550-foot towers with 1.2 million square feet of condos, retail, hotel and office space.

But the project was postponed indefinitely last year, one of many victims of the faltering economy and credit crunch. Now G4 Capital Partners, a New York lender, says a Multi Capital affiliate has defaulted on $13.7 million it borrowed in 2007 to help buy three of the five parcels that make up the project site. Http://english.aljazeera.net/news/am...244798542.html The global economic crisis is becoming a "human and development calamity" and is threatening to derail international efforts to reduce poverty, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank have said. The two financial institutions urged rich countries to step up aid to developing nations, as they completed their spring meetings in Washington on Sunday. Rich countries? Http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124101712866068819.html Congress passed a $3.5 trillion budget outline for 2010, handing President Barack Obama a victory on the 100th day of his presidency and helping set the stage for a significant shift in national priorities. The new budget, which aims to reverse the Bush administration approach of limited government , would set up special funds to pay for sweeping changes in health care, energy and education.

Democrats said the plan would cut the federal deficit-which is projected to total $1.2 trillion in fiscal year 2010 beginning Oct.

1 -- by more than half in five years.

Republicans disputed the assertion. (Gosh I wait all year every year for these things!
