Problem with malware? Unwanted ad on Google frontpage in IE7 - Safer Networking Forums
Hi all,
whenever I log onto www.google.com using IE7 below the search links i see a picture ad (for a weight loss product called Anatrim) that links to www.laskeb.com ??
The same doesn't appear in Firefox .
I googled this and it was suggested to run HijackThis which I did and the log file is below but I seriously don't understand or know where to go from here...
So any help in removing this woul dbe appreciated.
All other websites seem to be running fine...

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.
This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files
I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately.
If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.
Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted.
Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS.

However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your computer and would like me to attempt to clean it, I will be happy to do so.
Please read on if you want to take cleaning route.
HJT in it's own folder
Please put your HijackThis in it's own folder, (I create a new folder in C:\ named HJT).
You can do a Right Click on any open area on the desktop, New>
Folder, then rename the folder HJT.
Go to where your HijackThis is and Right Click on HijackThis.exe, select Cut, then open the new folder you just created (HJT) Right Click in the folder and select paste.
The reason we do this is Hijackthis creates backup files just in case you'd need to restore one and we'll be cleaning out the temp files.
Download
SDFix
and save it to your desktop.
(If you can't download with this computer try to get it downloaded on some other one.)
Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the
following : Restart your computer After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the
Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press
Enter
.
Choose your usual account.
In Safe Mode, double click the SDFix.exe file.
Click Install in appearing window, Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to
start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the
registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool
will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and
display Finished , then press any key to end the script and load
your desktop icons.
Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the
contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with
a new HijackThis log
