The VideoLAN Forums • View topic - Converting a .wmv video for an mp3 player...???

I have a Sony mp3 player (E series if that matters), and a video I made using Windows Movie Maker.

It is a .wmv file, which is compatible with the mp3 player, so it says, but it won't work on it.

I tried clicking on "Media", then "Convert/Save..." to change the audio and video codec, and it never changes anything or seems to do anything at all.

Could someone tell me if there's a protocol for this?

I'm obviously not understanding something!

There is a Wiki article on converting to an iPod-compatible format here: http://wiki.videolan.org/IPod The screenshots are for the older interface however.

See here for a description for the new interface etc.: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56367&p=187023#p187023 Arite.

Don't use PMs for support questions.

That helped a lot!

Thanks. Only thing now is the sound doesn' work...

And on the mp3 player, it says the file is damaged.

Hmm...
