Bengals sign Roy Williams, trade for Brian Leonard - KFFL Community
The Roy Williams trade is being reported on PFT, no mention of how much money he got.
The Bengals gave up defensive lineman Orien Harris for Brian Leonard: Leonard traded to Bengals for Harris

Wow, Orien Harris sure gets around the league.
What is this, his fifth or sixth team already?

Odd to give up on Leonard so soon unless they just didn't see a position for him.
Especially for a UDFA DT who's already a journeyman in his 4th year.

Brian Leonard had no real role on this team, Rams needed another DT.

Leonard was a bad pick from the beginning.
Kind of like when the Bungles took Chris Perry.
When you have an established back and a terrible D you don't need to take a back in the 1st/2nd unless you think he'll be a superstar.
Neither of those guys had a chance to do that, and you can easily find depth in the mid/later rounds.

Antonio Pittman showed me last season that he is a very capable and better suited backup to Jackson.

Leonard was a very, very good FB/RB hybrid prospect.
If not the Rams, someone else would've taken him in the region he was selected.
The pick was nothing like Chris Perry, who was selected earlier and is a pure RB.

Good lord...they're gushing about both of these guys on the local sports talk radio...Roy Williams and his 5 Pro Bowls and saying he was the most feared hitter in the league "in his prime"...which maybe he was...3 years ago.
Of couse, nobody mentioned that if he was still any good he'd have found a job the day after he was released...not a month later.
And they were talking about some video of Leonard leaping over a defender and how he was a 2nd round pick...
I had to switch the station.

Any redraft/dynasty value for Leonard?
Maybe if Benson goes down?

He stopped being a "feared" hitter after his second season.

Williams read too many of his press clippings after his rookie year.
His failed relationship with Kelly Rowland and commitment to his faith asisted in his fall from grace.
Many years ago the average career of an NFL player was 3.2 years.
Williams is lucky old DC Mike Zimmer (another retread) threw him a lifeline.

I hope Roy can turn his career around with a new team.
He's still a young guy.

Yeah dude, he's worth a look if Benson goes down, but still not much chance of producing.
He's had 2 shoulder surgeries, and never been a great athlete.
Bengals RBs dont generally produce anyway, Chris Perry did nothing behind that line last year.
I'd be surprised if they decide to use him as an H-Back which would be his natural position in the pros, these are the Bengals after all.

Brian Leonard....I cringed when they made that draft pick.
I went back and took a look at that draft...
It was WEAK after the first round, especially compared to this year's second round.
The first round was strong though, especially top 15.
We could see 5 hall of famers in that group.
Patrick Willis, Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Joe Thomas and Laron Landry are stellar players.
Gaines Adams is a stud too.
Picks in the 20's you gotta love: Dwayne Bowe at 23, Ben Grubbs at 29 and Greg Olsen at 31 (If Jay Cutler thought Scheffler was good).
I only see 4 certain busts in that first round.
I am bored.
