open PGY 3 position in IM??? | ERAS and the NRMP Match | Student Doctor Network
Hello everyone,
Any open PGY3 IM position available for july 2010.???
I am doing PGY 2 in NY..
Any help will be appreciated

You better check and make sure the ABIM allows people to transfer into 3rd year and still be boarded in IM.
I suspect you may be required to do PGY 2 and 3 at the same place, but I really don't know.

You know I've heard that, but...
In late 2006, another IM program in my city closed its doors.
Our program took all of their residents into PGY-2 and PGY-3 slots.
As far as I know, they took their boards without a hitch....

The rules might be different for people forced to leave a program because it closed.
However, I'll bet for other people, you have to do years 2/3 at the same place.
I'm pretty sure it's that way for fm, and I'll bet it is for IM.
The person better check and see what the deal is before trying to bail.

I know a girl from our program (IM) transferred to another city for family reasons in her 3rd year.
She graduated already.
Get in touch with ABIM because I think the rules are different for IM (in FM you have to 2 last 2 years at the same program, in IM I'm quite sure you don't).

Thank you don't know the rules about ABIM, but santa clara valley medical center in the san francisco bay area has an open PGY2 or PGY3 position available.
