Processor FSB & M.B. FSB (Gigabyte/Intel) - PC Perspective Forums
I'm looking to buy the new Gigabyte motherboard running at 1066MHZ FSB plus an Intel chip running at 800MHZ FSB.
Technically, would this mean the motherboard would only run at 800MHZ anyhow?
Should I therefore simply buy a board running at 800MHZ?
Thanks,
Gazza

Technically your board would more than likely be running at 800, as it would be the bus of your CPU.
Some configurations, however, will allow you to run memory at one speed and the processor at its own speed.
So, you could run the memory at 1066 (or 533 is probably how they look at it), and the CPU at 800.
Thereby using the bus of the board while using a chip that only runs at 800.
Personally, if the board don't cost that much more, I can't see not spending the money to get a better performing chipset.
Hope this helps.
