Any idea about the tariff options for BSNL DATAONE ?

Check this ppl.... http://in.rediff.com/money/2004/dec/17broadband.htm

What you must remember is these guys must provide unlimited(unmetered) downloads and uploads without port caps or time constraints!

I don't think they will give the connection with Unlimited download limit , but hope the monthly limit would be something reasonable for avaerage usage like 500 MB-1GB per month.

EXTREMELY expensive - 10 paise per kB! Airtel Chennai has unlimited GPRS access for Rs.

600 per month. But speeds are rated at 30 kbps... http://www.airtelworld.com/6/circle_oth ...

But no official word from BSNL yet.

Just some "leaked" info, methinks. The GPRS service is the expensive one. -Hari

Hi, The tariff for BSNL broadband is released. http://bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=185 cheap rates

They suck There is a download/upload limit.

BSNL and MTNL are about to launch their true broadband (promised min 256 K) acrosss the country.

PCQ should carry a full featured article on the issue covering all aspects from the "CPE" to the connectivity itself. Will it ever be possible to have broadband as a matter of routine on every telephone line and all one should need is the CPE and a pre paid ISP connection ? And then what happens to good old Dial up that reached a staggering 56K ?

Is it going to die a natural death ? Jo

True broadband doesnt restrict downloads/uploads

From today BSNL and MTNL have launched broadband service acroos the country, PCQ pl.

Carry out detailed articles on this , its pros and cons , various sw which can be used with this, all in all a detailed article, which will definately help many people, as many will be switching from dial up to broadband now. Just like you provided Buzz in Jan issueon kinds of modem. Carry out a detailed articles covering all aspects, and provide various s/w tools, security tools etc.

That can help broadband users.

But sadly thats far far away...

But sadly thats far far away... you are worried about download ,upload limit but i am worried that this is government service and we all know how the government service is (in india).i am much afraid of line men ,after dataone theybwill become king. am i wrong?

Nah, i have experienced govt.

Services from MTNL, BSNL both.

They are pretty good.

Infact MTNL has improved a LOT due to all the competition

Infact MTNL has improved a LOT due to all the competition Yes I do agree, but then I have once had to bribe the line men and and guy at the local exchange to make our leased line work.

Untill we actually bribed them the connection seemed to to ZAP just like that.

On inquery they would say "techincal problem" lol.

Which was just making the MUX card loose at the exchange. "Welcome to the real world" --- The Matrix null

I havent had to do such a thing with my GSM phone from MTNL

Hey guys the BSNL Data One is "beautyful" I am getting a speed of 258.4 K /sec and a sustained download speed of 30KB/S This is eternal bliss for a dial up guy like me.

Heh... http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/dataone_tariff.htm Show me a plan with "unlimited" data transfer limits...

Airtel's Home128 that I have RULES!

Yay!

Who all are using DSL connects here and what do you think about the connectivity provided by various service providers. From what I have heard, there are three major providers in Delhi-NCR - Tata Indicom (Previously Dishnet DSL), Airtel broadband and MTNL.

Out of these on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the highset,i could rate them as : Tata Indicom: 2.5 MTNL: 3 Airtel: 4 Your opinions? Geetaj Channana Geetaj Channana Assistant Manager, CyberMedia Labs
