Business as usual, treating UK fans like **** - Depeche Mode Message Board

I am sick and tired of the band treating the UK fans like dirt.

Germany, where the band first made it big in the eighties, get 5 shows, yet the UK, the country that gave the band it's start get absolutely s**t on yet again.

Can't wait to see how dates the americans get when the US tour is announced, but i bet they get a few more than us I have followed the band since 1981, have purchased absolutely everything the band released and have attended almost every tour, but over the last few years they have become more infuriating about the way in which they treat the UK fans with so much contempt. I for one will not be buying the new album, i will now do what everyone else does and download it free.

It makes me sick to think that with all the following they have in the UK, they can only bring themselves to put on ONE (!!) show for us.

This is utterly f***ing disgraceful. People always say how the media in the UK never really took to the band, but is it any wonder when they pull stunts like this? Tour of the Universe?

More like the Tour of places where we think we can make the most money Come on guys, how about renaming it the 'Gold-digger Tour'

Wow That's strong!!

Have to agree that one show in the UK is very poor though!

Sorry but way to strong.

I have no ticket (YET) and i am a bit peeved but i am sure that there will be more dates soon.

The newspapers here in Bergen was speculating if they will sell out all the tickets here at all.

It's a bit of a gamble for them, because I don't know if they have such a huge fan base here.

I thought it was up to the arrangers to book them and pay what they demand.

You can't blame DM if they haven't been booked in those cities.

I don't really know how it works but I guess the arrangers here have approached them and snatched them before Oslo where they usually go when they're on tour. And like many others have said before: We know that the tour list isn't final..

Maybe there will be more UK dates to come?

I hope so because I also reacted to the fact that there was only one show in their own country.

Good luck

I too am peeved again I been a long follow, I got plenty of people who are friends over the years into DM because of me. I just hope they do another gig here in UK

I have just had a thought, maybe DM knew of the problem with regards to ticket availability and sky high ticket prices for concerts from Ticket Master and Get Me In and maybe that is why there is only one night in the UK at the moment, maybe they thought it would be harder to sell out Birmingham Manchester and 2 nights at London because of the costs and availability of the tickets.

I don't know this is the case, it's just a thought. I do understand your feelings but please keep the faith, DM do not love the UK any less, I believe the reason is what I have said above.

They are in a position as much as the fans are. And by the way, I would not rule out a 2nd night on the Sunday.

Well if there is another concert in UK, the O2 arena will mean nothing to me, I cant afford to spend all day travelling there by train, and with the costs of travelling.

I got a family too, so this would mean a over night stay, it would costs me a small fortune and I have two tickets to get one for me and another for wife or my eldest daughter as she likes them too

What a stupid accusation.

Check your facts

Quit whining like Dave did in 101.

FFS. First of all, I will be very VERY surprised if Mode don't announce a 2nd date in London.

VERY surprised. Secondly, I will be very VERY surprised if Mode don't return to Europe after the US leg of the tour.

I can see a North American leg, then a return to Europe for indoor shows including UK regionals - I've already read one rumour that they're pencilled in for Manchester Arena in December 2009 - and then they'll be off to the rest of the Universe, lol, ie South America and Australia, or wherever else they plan to go.

Dave himself said that the band are very pessimistic and never know if people are goinna go and see them or not.

We all know we will, but they don't seem to! Springsteen did a similar thing a couple of years ago.

Everyone was like, WTF?

"We've supported you all these years and this is how you treat us".

And then he announced he was coming back and did more gigs than he could sell out, lol.

Loads of bands do it.

Stop whittling! Mode will be back.

You know they will.

And as for treating us like ****, well that's just bollocks.
