WMB54G- Vista 64bit drivers - Media Adapters - Linksys Community Forums

Does anyone know when Vista 64 bit drivers migh be available for the WMB54G Muisc Bridge?

I cannot get the WMB54G to work on Vista 64 bit Message Edited by Kim123 on 12-17-2008 05:05 PM

Based on Linksys's shameful performance to date, I doubt that you will ever see properly functioning drivers and firmware for Vista (64 or 32 bit).

Hi Kim put in a few hours this weekend getting the music bridge working on Vista x64.   Below is the method I used to get the music bridge working on Vista 64-bit I have not tried on XP 64-bit but I would guess that it would work as well.   Step 1: Un-install Linksys music utility from computer & restart.   Step 2: Hard Reset Music Bridge by depressing reset button for 30 seconds.   Step 3: Download WMB54G Firmware v2.18 Upgrade Utility from Linksys site & upgrade firmware (if not done already).

You must connect the music bridge to your computer with the Ethernet cable to upgrade the firmware. http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WMB54G/download   Note: do not install the Linksys driver software – it is not compatible with 64-bit.   Step 4: Download Sondigo Sirocco v2.1.0 drivers & install (connect music bridge to computer via Ethernet cable if not done so already).

Http://www.sondigo.com/sirocco/updateguide     The Sondigo software should detect the music bridge.   Note: Do not use the Sondigo software to set your wireless settings – this did not work for me.   Step 5: Set up wireless using the Linksys web configuration: Log into the music bridge using 192.168.1.210, set the wireless settings to match the requirements of your wireless router.   Note: I had to change the IP address of my router back to default (192.168.1.1) and turn off WEP to get connected the first time – after I was connected I was able to resume using a WEP key by updating the music bridge WEP via the web configuration, then   turing WEP on the router back on.   Step 6: You should have two new playback devices added to your “sound” menu.

Select the C-media speakers as default and then close and reopen any application which you want sounds from.   Step 7: Double click the Sondigo Sirocco icon on the quick tray (if not open already).

Select the WMB54G under device name and click connect.   Music should now be streaming to the music bridge.

Test with headphones – if wireless is set up correctly you may now unplug the Ethernet cable.   It’s working great for me now – music quality is perfect using fiber connection to my receiver.   Hope this helps.   Todd

Thanks Aerial001.

Sirocco works well.

I already had the WMB54G firmware upgrade and installing Sirocco worked immediately.

Since buying this Vista 64 computer, I have been unable to listen to my MP3's.

Thanks again.

Sounds like a great solution if only I can get the firmware updated.

I downloaded the v2.18 utility useing the "install.exe' file but t he wireless light won't come on as the setup says it should.

I have never installed this item though so I don't see how it could if it has never had access to the network.

Todd - got the firmware updated, but having trouble with the sirocco.

Would you provide a step by step on this so I can get it to work?

Thanks

Thanks sondigo works perfectly and the setup wizard worked fine for me.
