Which keyboard/mouse to get for new Mac Mini (couch-friendly) :) - Mac Forums

Hi. I just ordered the new mac mini but I did not buy any keyboard and mouse for it, cause I dont know which to get.

Im sort of regretting that I didnt buy that slim apple keyboard and the mighty mouse looks ill too, but the thing is Im gonna use the mac mini on my TV, so I'll be sitting in my chill-chair or on my bed.

Constantly lounging I dont know how a regular mouse would work out for me.

So I have been thinking of getting a keyboard with a mouse built in (but I cant find any that looks good), getting one of those wii-like pointers or getting an Air Mouse/using iPod touch as Air Mouse. I dont know how well these solutions actually work out though.

Im not using it for games, but I do browse a lot and stuff..

So whats a good advice?

What do you guys recommend?

I have the Apple wireless keyboard and a Logitech V470 bluetooth mouse.

Both of these are great. I have the '09 Mac mini connected to my Samsung LN46A650 HDTV in the living room. Good luck making a decision.

Apple wireless keyboard would be best, it's so small and beautiful.

And a mouse, hmm..

Make sure that it's laser, some optical mice don't work in bed (surface isn't flat)

And yeah I agree the apple wireless keyboard looks awesome

And yeah I agree the apple wireless keyboard looks awesome My mouse is a laser and it works on uneven surfaces.

I even used it on my leg when I was laying on the couch!

And yeah I agree the apple wireless keyboard looks awesome Yea at least what I've tried (optical mouse didn't recognize very well when I tried it without mousemat when laser did fine and laser is more accurate)

That exactly what I mean.

Optical can't do that very well

Cool. So the mighty mouse would be fine, right?

I mean thats a laser mouse as far as I know..

But is this Logitech V470 one better?

It is difficult to say which is better, it comes down to personal preference.

The mini is my first Mac but many of my firends who use a Mac do not recommend the Apple wireless mouse.

Then again, there are some who say it is perfect for their needs.

The V470 has a more robust scroll wheel and I love it.

Check out some reviews on sites like Amazon, there are plenty of reviews there which will give you a good idea of which will best suit your needs. If you are looking for an all-in-one solution then you might consider the Logitech diNovo Edge bluetooth keyboard (Mac edition).

It includes a touch disc for navigation and scrolling.

This product also has great reviews though the touch disc will not perform as well as a mouse. Good luck!

Damn that one looks DOPE.

Its expensive, but still, its nearly the same price as the apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse.

I might buy this one

Apple wireless keyboard or just get a dinovo edge which has a touchpad, too.

I've done some research on this for use with an old mac tower and with a sometime forthcoming mini.

I just ordered a Logitech diNovo Mini from Amazon and it should be here tomorrow.

From comments I read here it works quite well with the mac even though it isn't listed as supporting. Mooch

...another vote for the Logitech V470 BT mouse (works great on my eeePC)...

Any similar keyboards to the DiNovo Edge for mac?

Apparently they dont have them in Denmark.

WTF?

I have two V470 mice.

Be sure to get the blue one because it has a rubberized grip, unlike the white one which is slippery plastic and hard to pick up. They work fine on the arm of a chair or couch but the sensor gets covered with dust from the fabric and needs to be cleaned off regularly.

I've been using Mac Minis for my home theaters for a while now.

I have tried a number of different setups for controlling them including a dinovo edge and dinovo mini from Logitech.

However, the mouse control was barely usable.

I have finally settled on using the Apple wireless keyboard and a Logitech MX Air Mouse.

This setup is lap friendly and works great for any task.

However if you use Plex, iTunes, Front Row, or any other app on the mini and want something to launch and control the apps without too much work, and you have an iPhone or iPod touch, look at Rowmote in the App Store.

Using the app and the helper app you put on the mini itself, it will act like a wifi apple remote that also can launch apps.

I myself am using the apple wireless keyboard and i have just ordered the wireless mighty mouse to go with my new mini the first week i was using a logitech media board pro ps3 one which i had before I prefer the apple keyboard over the logitech media board also i find it uncomfortable using the trackpad i also missed the use of the command key as the mediaboard was designed for the ps3
