please help - need bluetooth adapter for hotsync that will be compatible with 64 bit vista - Windows HotSync - Palm Support Community

I've posted this same question under a couple of other topic areas but haven't gotten a nibble yet...and I'm getting desperate! short version: recently had to upgrade phone, chose palm centro because I have been longtime user of palm and needed to replace both palm and phone then, a month ago, my laptop died.

Went to friendly neighborhood "big box" retailer, bought a new HP laptop that after I got home and got all my other software installed, found that there were no drivers to support 64-bit USB synchrnonization.

So now I'm stuck with two relatively new devices that won't talk to each other, and no option to return or replace either.

(no help from the retailer that sold me the computer) I need to sync using Bluetooth but can't find a suitable USB adapter anywhere that will support 64 bit vista. Elsewhere on these boards I see where others have had the same issues but I see no references to what brand they are using and where they bought it.

There were a handful of posts that referred to other posts that have apparently since been deleted, those may or may not have been helpful. I am frustrated at this point and have numerous professional contacts, as well as medical software, that I need to sync will someone please help me?

And keep the posting on my apparently idiot level? Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.

First here is a link to the main thread about setting up 64bit bt sync which does have a suggestion for a kingston dongle, $29 which should help.

If that does not help when you go to a computer store that carries blue tooth dongles there should be information on the box stating compatibility with 64bit vista.

Also you can do a google search for a "blue tooth dongle compatible with 64bit vista" and I'm sure you will find several.

Hope that helps. Note: I am here Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm eastern time to help answer questions for Palm users.

Thanks for the link...however I think its the same link I have been directed to in the past, because when I click on it I get a message stating that the link has been deleted ! but at least you gave me a brand name to use. so far I have contacted 3 retailers including the one where I bought the laptop...have looked online at numerous brands and sites...only problem is that many of them do not state that they support 64 bit vista. the personnel at all 3 of the retailers have been no help whatsoever.

I have spent an unbelievable amount of time trying to solve this issue.. at least you have given me a brand name to focus on that i have not heard of before. I would love to read that link.

Hi.. Sorry about the link.

You are correct about the link being dead after I just tested it.
