Blue Bayou - Roy Orbison or Linda Ronstadt? - Topic Powered by Eve For Enterprise

Roy gets some help from Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Bonnie Rait... Linda belts it out

Gotta go with Roy on this.

I like a lot of Linda's work but she just sounds whiney on this song. ...of course, so does Roy, but he owns that.

I like a lot of Linda's work but she just sounds whiney on this song. Yup - I agree - I first heard it from her, but Roy is just way more nuanced with it.

I do like her voice though.

Ronstant - still have the album

I'm more in the mood for Black Joe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayebYim1l1I Can not get enough of these guys!

Blue Bayou and Linda Ronstadt are synonymous with chocolate and chips in my world.

Quote: : I'm more in the mood for Black Joe. I'll listen to that after a little Boz Scaggs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...6vRU&feature=related I agree the Honeybears are killer, but don't you think Black Joe sounds like Chris Rock? Or how about a few Texicans? Or some Indigenous? I love this song, haven't listened to it in a while.

I'm also a fan of both, but there is no one that can do Blue Bayou like Roy!

Anything else is just a copy.

Ronstadt is a phenomenal singer, but it's not the same.

She's pitchy, dawg.

Sounds like the Godfather.

Ralph!! I am jamming on the Los Lonely Boys link!

With Carlos??! Awesome. Thanks!

Linda Rondstadt To every thing there is a season

Roy. Best voice for that song.

Linda sounds like she's reaching the whole song. “It is every man's obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it.” Albert Einstein

Quote: : Roy. Best voice for that song.

Linda sounds like she's reaching the whole song. Ok, Roy has the voice that always seems in range.

To be fair, this video of Linda is clearly not her best.

I have always liked Linda, and the studio version is much cleaner.

With Carlos??! Awesome. Thanks! No problemo.

I can't get enough Los Lonely Boys.

Listening to some vintage Santana now.

Linda. Saw her sing it live sigh

I like em both. Roy wrote it and knew how it was meant to be done but Linda had an awesome voice.

Really really want to say Roy but when I hear Linda I pick her ....

Its a cunundrum , conundrum ....

Whatever , its a hard choice ..bottom line its a good song that both do very well .

Quote: : Or some Indigenous? I love this song, haven't listened to it in a while. Thanks ralph that is awesome.

I like Linda, but Roy is the one and only... Does anyone else remember him on Saturday Night Live?

Just before the whole Travelin' Wilburys thing, he made an appearance on SNL.

Second song he performed was "Crying".

I thought, "man he sounds great, but he's getting older.

He will never hit that high note." Well...he NAILED it!

I always liked him, but he became a hero to me that night.
