Lauren Bacall used to be hot! - Footballguys Forums

I've been watching a lot of old movies lately on TCM (Turner Classic Movies).

Great channel , BTW. Anyway, watched "Key Largo" last night.

It was made in 1947, and it starred Humphrey Bogart and Edward G.

Robinson. Bogey showed up at this hotel in the Florida Keys, and the young lady working there was quite fetching indeed.

Come to find out, it was Lauren Bacall. Here is a pic of her from that era. Then it occurred to me that she is about 85 years old now.

She was 82 when she was on The Sopranos a few years back. Just wanted to share....

Everyone else?

Solid detective work here.

The More You Know - no matter where you go, there you are. Quote: We named our puppy Liberace - on account of he's the Pianist dog I've ever seen.

Same with Elizabeth Taylor...one of the hottest chicks ever when she was young...petite with purple blue eyes and a natural huge rack.

Quote: Everyone else? Like I said, catching up on all of the old classics.

I Tivo about three TCM features per day.

And the coliseum in Rome used to not be so "broken in".

St John's was a hoops powerhouse at one point.

Quote: And the coliseum in Rome used to not be so "broken in". Oh, stop.

I've never seen a Lauren Bacall movie in my life prior to last night. The last time I saw her, she looked like this. When the "all-time Hollywood beauties" are mentioned, you never hear her name.

At least I don't.

So how would I know?

So how would I know? But if you see "Strangers When We Meet" coming up on AMC record it.

Kim Novak is hot as balls in it.

I discovered her myself just a few years ago.

Yes, the golden age of Hollywood produce many beauties that are far out of the current zeitgeist.

Kim Novak is hot as balls in it. I such a fan of movies, I decided I was doing myself a disservice having never seen most of the classics.

Let's face it, some movies which were made in the 1930's are really, really hard to sit through.

The dialogue is over-the-top corny, and it doesn't hold up. I tried to watch "Mutiny on the Bounty" the other night, but I could not make it more than 15 minutes.

Seeing Vito Corleone in tights using a British accent really messed me up.

Some pretty cool early 60s suburban sexual tension going on.

Very 'Madmen-esque'.

"Just put your lips together and blow"

Shirley MacLaine was a hottie too.

Not classy like Bacall, more the girl next door type. This post has been edited by The Man With No Name : Mar 4 2009, 01:57 PM "You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend.

Dark Passage is another great Bogart and Bacall movie.

I liked it better than Key Largo. A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo, and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.

This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.

Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

You just seem to be completely thrown off by the fact that someone was better looking in their 20's than they are in their 80's.

Or I never realized that Lauren Bacall was hot.

One or the other.

Kim Novak is hot as balls in it. Kim Novak was smoking back in the day

Any "Girls Gone Wild" videos photos drawings cave paintings of Estelle Getty during her 20s?

Quote: Dark Passage is another great Bogart and Bacall movie.

I liked it better than Key Largo. with agnes moorehead, from bewitched, as well as the twilight zone where a "normal-sized" lone woman is terrorized by homicidal midget spacemen, with no dialogue until the last few seconds... my favorite bogey/bacall movie was the big sleep...

The plot was so convoluted & labrynthine, that when somebody thought they detected a plot inconsistency about how somebody died & who killed them, the director just told him to ask the writer of the original novel, in this case, raymond chandler...

Chandler didn't have the slightest idea...

Stories used to be better (my favorites were film noir)...

They had to be better, because they couldn't rely on explosions & special effects like today...

Some even had separate story & dialogue writers...

Nobel prize winner william "the sound & the fury" faulkner was one of the writers on the big sleep (his hollywood misadventures parodied fairly realistically in the coen bros.

Barton fink)... BTW, rita hayworth, ava gardner & grace kelly were pretty handsome females back in the day (gardner was too hot to handle for even frank sinatra)...

Watch "The Picture of Dorian Gray".

When you realize who the hottie is in that one, it will blow your mind.

Quote: Watch "The Picture of Dorian Gray".

Not "Grace Kelly" hot, but at least "June Allyson" hot.

Whatever happened to Fay Wray ...

Quote: Whatever happened to Fay Wray ... Looks like a bit of a trollop to me.

The Pam Anderson/Paris Hilton of her day.

The Pam Anderson/Paris Hilton of her day. That would actually be Jean Harlow.

She was a very dirty girl.

I Tivo about three TCM features per day. I got Hatari with John Wayne through Netflix the other day.

There are a couple of pretty hot European actresses from the 60s in that one.

I'd prefer to not see hot pics of 80 year old women.

Do you honestly think Humphrey Bogart would marry an ugly chick? Quote: Conservatives want the country to fail...

Even though shes probably 90, i would still do the women from Planet of the Apes just for how hot she use to be. Post NFL 2008 draft Quote: s via Chachi: Quote: absolutely brilliant with Malcolm Kelly as the #1 WR, I agree 100% I actually think Forte is going to be a major bust, not only Benson stunk in Chicago, they all stunk in Chicago and I don't think Forte is very good at all Even with Chris Johnson being drafted high, I agree with the low ranking, I think he brings something special (speed) but it's not going to equate into much fantasywise. I would seriously be stunned if Forte/Johnson/Smith all finished ahead of Dmac, actually I'd be stunned if any of them finished ahead of Dmac I am taking bets on ROY, I will take McFadden over anyone who wants to pick Forte, it just seems like stealing to me, I'll wager whatever you want.
