New baby/mother gifts - snopes.com

This is a bit time sensitive as I am going grocery shopping tomorrow and would love to get it all then, but I can wait if I am still compiling the stuff. Rules: Nothing religious of any kind Fairies of the REAL kind (as in, not Disney) Girl Name is Molly She will be here in either late December or early January Parents have one other girl, aged 6 or 7, thought they were done and got rid of every single baby related thing. I am somewhat known for putting together unconventional gift bags/boxes.

However, this one has me stumped as I really want to go the unconventional route (baby powder, wash, toe clippers, etc...) but I haven't had to deal in baby in 13 years (even with youngest nephew I still didn't deal in baby, she gave us a list and had a ton of stuff left over from 1st born, so he was easy). Help me put together an unconventional gift bag/box.

I would like to stay under $50 total if possible. (some ideas of what I was thinking: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=2676658 ;

Or a combination of the two?

The Earth Mama/Angel Baby stuff is great and has things for both Baby and Mama.

I love their massage oil especially!

They have gift boxes !

Their stuff is really nice and you don't see it around that much. I hate the Johnson stuff because it's so heavily scented.

Their soaps dry Gabi out and their lotions give me a migraine and Gabi a rash.

Just my experience. Are you looking for some fun, funky stuff, too?

Or mostly health/body care products?

Fun/funky/hippie/kind goth-y but more punk/metal/fairie/definitely not religious/earth mommy is cool type stuff. Yes, this person has a real sense of humor and appreciation for what people do for her.

Truly genuine. I'm trying to steer clear of the "normal" baby shower stuff--clothes, more clothes, bottles, more bottles, binkies, more binkies, etc...

And go with things most people are either afraid to purchase or just plain don't feel you should give that kind of stuff at a baby shower (but yet, every new mom I talk to has always said "I wish I had this instead of another set of onesies").

How about this ? I've found the Burt's Bees things to be very nice. My default baby gift though, is a boppy .

I'm not sure if Wal Mart carries them, but I'm pretty sure Target and Toys R Us do.

I don't think earth mama/angel baby is religious.

Just hippy. Here's a really good website with more stuff: http://www.babymoonboutique.com/ This was my baby store when I lived in St.

Louis, and oh, I miss it so!

Do you know if she plans on nursing?

Or cloth diapering? Here are some things that I found absolutely indespensible: Baby wrap (I reccomend the Gypsy Mama b/c they're SOOO pretty and they come with an instructional DVD, esp since she's got another little one to chase after and will need to be hands-free The Baby Book Happiest Baby on The Block + Swaddling Blankets ( another kind of swaddler ) - the receiving blankets you get at Target and Babies R Us are not big enough to be functional, and HBOTB has an off switch for crying.

It's wonderful! Babylegs (I have some Pirate ones for Gabi!) More Bath and Body Care stuff I'm totally taking the shotgun approach here!

I hated the boppy with the heat of 1000 suns!

It sooo didn't work for me as a nursing pillow!

Too soft, too slidey, too low. The My Breast Friend pillow has the stupidest name on the planet, but it's the best pillow out there that's easy to get your hands on.

They sell them at Babies R Us even.
