9/7/08 Byrd vs. McCarthy - Sons of Sam Horn

After losing yesterday, it's time for the Red Sox to start another winning streak.

Lets see the Red Sox gain some momentum going into this series with the Rays and continue their road-winning ways.

Lets make it 4 series in a row on the road. It could be an uphill battle, though, as Byrd is 1-4 at Ranger's Ballpark sporting a healthy 8.06 ERA while opponents have managed to hit .330 off him there.

Might be another slug fest today.

You've carried the Red Sox for so many years Papi, but you need to start stepping it up again. PedroiaSalsa : Sep 7 2008, 07:24 AM

"Knowing Us, Knowing Them" ERR's Guide to Those Douchebags in the Opposing Dug-Out "Ribbed for your pleasure!" Yesterday was a tough one.

But it only counts for one.

So here is what you need to do 'boxers: Step 1: Drag your ass out of bed Step 2: Wipe the shame off (even that sticky shame that gets in your hair) Step 3: Deny to yourself and your friends that last night ever happened I can vouch strongly for this strategy.

It got me through college. Its just one game, and if there are any permanent effects on us, we'll say we got them from an infected toilet seat. Take a look at today's opponent Basically the Sox are facing the sickly giraffe that gets culled from the herd.

This is going to be like watching a nature show.

You'll feel bad for him, but know that, in the end, it is nature's way. Down in Arlington, with Paul Byrd on the mound, this is not going to be easy.

This is going to be a slug fest.

Remember Game 5 in 1999?

I got that kind of feeling about today.

Only Pedro Martinez isn't coming out of that bullpen.

Things got ugly and bad last night, today it is time to win ugly. At the risk of being a little too Simmons derivative, this is basically a weekend at Vegas.

Last night we plopped ourselves down at a blackjack table, and from the second hand on just got our asses handed to us.

Maybe for a brief moment the cute cocktail waitress with the free drinks lifted our spirits (Youk's homerun) but the glass was fucking tiny and, let's face it, she just wasn't falling for our shit.

So today we're not going to the tables.

We came to out at the Crazy Horse 2 and realized there is a brunch buffet and, for some reason, we've got two dancers hanging out at our table.

Sure they need to drop a couple pounds and have a little bit of a coked out look.

But it's time to make the best out of a bad situation.

It is not going to be pretty.

But it's gonna be better than last night, and its gonna be a "w." So pull out that roll of singles 'boxers (you cheap bastards), its time to watch them dance. I'm ERR and now you know! This post has been edited by EdRalphRomero : Sep 7 2008, 07:59 AM

This is a big game.

They all are this time of year.

Another loss and the Twins and Yankees would have an opportunity to cut the lead down to 4.5 anad 6.5 respectively.

Lineups are up on Gameday, sorry no link 1.

Ellsbury, RF 2. Pedroia, 2B 3.

Ortiz, DH 4. Youkilis, 3B 5.

Bay, LF 6. Casey, 1B 7.

Varitek, C 8. Cora, SS 9.

Crisp, CF

2/3 of that lineup are struggling right now.

Batter vs Pitcher Boston vs McCarthy: 1.

Ellsbury: 2-2 2. Pedroia: 2-3 (1 2B) 3.

Ortiz: 1-7 (2 BB) 4.

Youkilis: 0-8 (2K) 5.

Bay: 0-1 6. Casey: 1-3 7.

Varitek: 0-7 (1RBI, 2K) 8.

Cora: 0-1 9. Crisp: 2-5 (1 2B, 1HR, 1RBI, 1BB) Lowell: 1-3 (1HR, 1RBI, 1BB) Ellsbury: 2-2 Kotsay: 0-1 Now, that doesn't look too pretty.

:/

As long as Byrd doesn't give up too many bombs we should take this game.

I mean, come on. it's the Rangers.

The lineup is on the weaker side, but we've won with worse.

Time to gain some momentum going into the TB series. WIN

Fuck you Ellsbury.

Byrd with a nice first.

Let's get some runs.

Not toast.

CORA! (Ellis Hobbs!)

Dead in here. I'm gamecasting while watching a very exciting 10-0 game in Milwaukee...

I'm gamecasting while watching a very exciting 10-0 game in Milwaukee... Gamecasting while putting flooring down, I'll throw stuff in when I get breaks.

Figured the Pats game killed the gamethreat participation but game over.

Sox time people. Nice DP!

Byrd man coming up big so far. Another gut busting loss for the Rays...that's a shame. Let's pour it on boys. "I am a pitcher because I like the challenge of being responsible for the game, of being in charge of the action," If the shortstop makes an error, I am responsible.

I let the batter hit the ball." Pedro Martinez

I'm out of town so reduced to streaming...Pats and Sox back 2 back, my eyes are gonna bleed.
