Sky's Fitness Thread - TGC: Fall Fitness Forum - Communications - The Gungan Council - Message Board - Yuku
I finally renewed membership at the Y (after 2 yrs) and want to get back into working out, and your guys support would be appreciated considering I can be a slacker at times
I started yesterday-- 1 mile run & 1 hour of kickboxing.
I want to do: Mon: Hard core, Tues: Kickboxing, Wed (when I don't have to take my son to soccer): Pilates & Bootcamp, Thurs: Kickboxing, Friday: Integrated Training Class (Core, Cardio, Muscles, etc).
And running on the treadmill while waiting for the classes to start for those days.
I wish they had the rockclimbing wall still but they got rid of it :'(
I want to lose 5 pounds, on all the height/weight charts I am on the light side, but I want some kind of goal.

In the spring, I would run with my dog outside on a cement trail.
It was a loop (maybe the size of a football field or smaller) and I would just run around that.
The scenery was very beautiful, though I would like to run not in a loop but it is hard with crazy ghetto drivers around here and no places to go.
Now I just started (yesterday) and it was on a treadmill before my class started.

I know, and my knees are not the greatest.
How is treadmill running for the knees?
Should I use one of those other machines instead (similar to running, but your feet remain in contact with the pedal)?

Treadmill is boring though.
Not hard on the body, but hard on the brain.
Dirt and grass...
Natural surfaces...
Are best in my opinion.

Treadmills actually aren't very good on you.
Too much impact, not enough of a soft surface underneath.
I would stick with a track if I had to run on anything.

I hate treadmills, but they honestly are much softer than asphalt and concrete.

But also boring. I've run nearly 4000 miles in the last two years.
I save tracks for speed workouts.

As for kickboxing, I missed yesterday because my son is sick, also going to miss today for that reason.
And have to axe pilates off of Wednesday since I will have my son to watch.
But Bootcamp on Wed was fun, though sort of hoped for a scary big guy to be teaching the class, but I know that there is one on Thursday's kickboxing.
I love scary big guys, it makes me feel I have to try or else he will end up kicking my ass.
