Why does Yedda now work differently?

We're about to update Yedda with some exciting changes, and we wanted you to be among the first to know about it.

These changes are designed to encourage fruitful discussion among people in the community, based on feedback from you and other active members of the community: New commenting system  - Enabling people to express their opinion about people's answers Improved helpfulness criteria  - Encouraging people to help more people rather than receive more thumbs up per answer they give Non-anonymous commented thumbs down  - Enabling people to express their disagreement with an answer along with a justification for it So...

Where would you see those new feature on Yedda? Each answer is now accompanied with a "comments" link.

Click it to read comments about the answer or provide your own comment.

Note that the "comments" link replaces the "reply" link which was used by people, de facto, as a commenting channel  In your profile you will notice that instead of stating the number of thumbs up we now present the number of questions you've helped people with "Helpful Answers" This is also the criteria we will use hence forth in the "most helpful" list If you'd like to express your disagreement with an answer simply click the comments link...

Your comments box lets you both post your comment and select "helpful/not helpful" This means that from now on you can express disagreement with a specific answer by thumbing it down, but you should be aware that you will need to provide a justification for your disagreement in the form of a comment, which will appear publicly with your name next to it.

We're calling it a truce :) and asking the community to put aside all the old thumbs down feuds knowing that from now on any new thumbs-down would be public These are only a few of the changes we're working on...

There are more to come.

Please keep the feedbacks coming, this is what is driving us forward toward making Yedda the best place to ask questions and receive answers.

.   We're excited about these changes!

What do you think?

Good question! I sincerely hope that some of the IMPROVEMENTS, mean bringing back the ability to follow our posts on previous threads under "My Activity"?!!

And I don't know, but I hope so, that the inability to EDIT, is not a thing of the past and just a temporary problem due to all the new formatting!!! I do however appreciate the new system of evaluating an answer, with a helpful or not helpful number as opposed to the OVER BLOATED thumbs up, that  were given by friends to friends for some of the dumbest answers conceivable, and some not even answers, but stupid comments.

That is definitely an improvement that should have occurred a long time ago!!!!

That improvement is more than welcome.

But some of the other improvements are just a little confusing for the rest of us who have been around for awhile and enjoyed things the way they were. I enjoyed going into "My Activity" and being able to find new answers to my previous posts.

Now I can't find them and wonder where they exist.

If at all. And if anyone can tell into which realm they disappeared, I would appreciate finding them again.

I so enjoyed reading them. Thank you Annette

I agree about the My Activity post--it is impossible to find new answers to posts I made although the link is there.

They seemed to disappear into outer space somewhere.

Navigation through this site has been made very difficult.

Yedda, hopefully you'll reconsider some of these changes.

I hate the new format.

I hate the comment feature.

If I decide to stay on Yedda, I will never use the comment feature. I hate not being able to find posts with new answers. I still want to know what percentage of members like the NEW Yedda and what percentage prefer the OLD.

Is there a reason why we don't know that information?

Because it seems to me that most of us like a large portion of what we had under the OLD way (possibly excluding the thumbs ranking system). I am perfectly fine with losing thumbs up.

In fact, I couldn't care less about the 'helpful' or 'not helpful' garbage.

Dump all that and just show us how many posts each person has made as a total sum (not answers/helpful answers). If you want to change anything about Yedda, how about making it so those annoying spam posters can't get on and 'answer' questions?

That same darn person - the one who always has a name full of consonants - posts ALL the time.

It is always for the same online store, even though the link does change. Why not find a way to get rid of that garbage?

That would go a long way towards making Yedda a pleasant experience. And then, if you must give people a way to 'rate' each other, why not just something simple, i.e., 'I like/dislike this answer' or 'I agree/disagree with this answer' instead of 'comments' which can still be abused (and already has been). That way, it won't matter if a crazy person or a stalker doesn't like what you post or disagrees with you - because it doesn't award or remove a darn thing;

It just expresses an opinion! And as far as keeping track of the questions I've answered that have new responses just so I can actually find them, I absolutely do not want to have to 'watch' every single question I have ever answered or ever will answer in order to do that.

In my opinion, that is utterly absurd. This new format seems to be set up for people who play on Yedda every once in a while and who answer questions once in a blue moon.

It isn't necessary for them to 'watch' everything because they aren't here enough to have a lot of threads to go through. Some of us are.

Some of us have no job or no life or maybe we stay up all hours because we're addicted to Yedda.

Whatever the reason, we have page upon page of questions we've answered.

We're supposed to watch all of them? I like Yedda, but I like my privacy as well.

I do not care to announce to every other Yedda member exactly what I'm watching or where my interests lie.

There's a reason why I don't choose to watch questions - because it can cause more trouble than it's worth if you should happen to tangle with another Yedda member and be accused of stalking.

And yes, that's happened to me.

And no, I was NOT watching that question of which I was so accused! I miss my fun.

I'm in total agreement with everyone else on the BIG THUMBS DOWN, on the new format.

I think the thumbs up or down, helpful/not helpful and the comments should be done away with altogether!

THAT would be an improvement!!!!

And being able to BLOCK the advertising on any of the threads, THAT would be an improvement!

However the inability to follow our answers on threads we have posted previously, without having to "watch" everything, THAT does not IMPRESS ME one iota.

AND how do we NOW find the new answers posted previously before the "new format" from weeks or months ago??

Have they just evaporated into cyberspace? I as well will never use the "comment" feature, to me it seems rather redundant!

We can post our opinions in the thread as we always have, without further complications of having to click on comments to see them.

Oh, and I have definitely changed my thinking on the helpful/not helpful rating due to the fact that CREEPS like flax have decided to follow some of us around the threads and post "not helpful" comments with his gross pictures of he and his buddies vomiting.

How pathetic I don't know who came up with some of this IDIOCY on Yedda, but, my philosophy is "If it ain't broke, don't try to FIX it
