Hi,
Forgive me if I'm sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong, but having been a professional proofreader for Christian companies for over 13 years, I'm wondering if standard PL'ing is OK for a book of the Bible?
I haven't been at Librivox long enough to know the way most Bible books are done, so please just ignore me if it's none of my business.
I guess since it's the Bible, word-perfect PL'ing seems best to me, which is probably due to my background in proofing Christian books.
I'm even the associate editor of study notes for a KJV student Bible (2003).
This particular Bible was a reprint;
The notes were from the forties & the wording was very out-of-date, so I had to update them & make note of anything that seemed like it was a completely wrong interpretation of Scripture.
I guess my main concern is that anyone who listens to a book of the Bible from Librivox gets the accurate text.
Again, I apologize if I'm being too pushy or am out of line.
If standard proofing has worked in the past, that's fine.
Just wanted to share my thoughts.
(I'm a very peaceful person & never want to upset anyone at all.)
I'm just so thrilled that I found Librivox & am already contributing by PL'ing several projects & am going to get a microphone soon so I can record too.
I LOVE this site!!
(I just found it on June 10 & immediately registered so I could help.) I greatly admire all of you who so generously volunteer your time!

Hi Joy,
I understand your concerns.
The bible is a very special book for many people in the world.
Other books are special for other people.
Therefor Librivox has no special rules for the bible.
The type of prooflistening is completely up to the soloist or BC.
We aim for 99% accuracy in all our recordings.

I completely agree that accuracy is very important for the bible, and I would love word-perfect PL, but have found it's difficult to get anyone to volunteer, which is why I have always accepted standard PL.
momof3Chihuahuas, if you would like to volunteer for word-perfect PL, I would be glad to have you on board.
I've recorded a few other books of the bible already, and will be aiming at doing the whole bible, but I am treating each book as an individual project for recording/cataloguing purposes.
If you'd like to volunteer to PL future books of the bible for me, that would be great, too

Thanks for the clarification, Hokuspokus & Thadine.
Like I said, I'm very new.
Sounds like what you're doing for this one is fine, Thadine, especially since this isn't your first Bible book project.
I can understand why it might be difficult to get word-perfect PL'ing.
Perhaps I will PL one of your future Bible books.
Looks like you've got this one covered.

Apologies for the long delay.
I was sick and unable to record for a while, but I've finally started.
First files are up - hopefully I'll be able to get the rest done fairly quickly

The rest of the files have been completed, and are waiting proof-listening

Greetings -
Thanks for the PM nudge.
For some reason, I wasn't getting any notice of postings as I usually do.
Will have it PL'ed for you in the next day or so.
Word perfect PL'ing coming up.

Greetings -
Chapters 1 and 2 have been PL'ed.
No problems with tech specs, audio, or tags.
The readings themselves were very good in terms of being word perfect and read at a good pace.
Every once in a while, you could hear a few microphone "pops" but nothing that adversely affects the reading.
On to the next chapters.
MW updated.

Thanks a lot, lomond
You can just do standard proofing if you like (it's what you signed up for), but if you're happy to do word-perfect, that's great

Greetings -
In a way, it is just as easy to do word perfect PL'ing.
I just count it as part of my daily Bible reading.
Chapter 3 is PL OK!
Chapter 4 is PL OK!
Except for at the very end where the reading has "End of Chapter Five." instead of "Four".
Tech specs, audio, and tags good for both sections.
