I am really loving Liza. We know Marcy Walker won't come back - boards.soapcentral.com

I am really loving Liza.

We know Marcy Walker won't come back and why so a recast has always been inevitable.

I will just try and enjoy and get used to her.

Recasting in general isn't the problem The problem is she is so unbelievable as a contemporary of the group Liza is supposed to be a part of.

Its hard to look past

I agree, she is younger than her high school crowd but the casting is done and she is Liza.

I for one plan to just do my best to get used to her.

I absolutely adored Marcy, at all stages of Liza, esp.

When they were in high school.

Instead of whining ( like I generally do about recasts in general ) I am going to try a new approach and do my level best to adjust to her as Liza.

It is what it is...

I am loving this Liza too.

I don't mind any recast as long as the actor/actress can act.

So far I think Jamie Luner is pretty good, she conveys Liza's feeling on the screen, she brings out Liza Colby. IMO the scenes between her and Tad, her with Jesse were good.

Watching her interacted with Tad and with Jesse reminded me of when they were all teenagers.

Yep. I am getting the Liza vibe from her too.

Now, if only Jenny were still alive...

I am trying to keep an open mind but it has been a difficult recast but I think most of it is in the writing for Liza.

JL is just doing her job and that is to play the part as directed to play it.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, but it isn't easy.

I loved MW's Liza.

I know she isn't coming back, but the recast is not impressing me at all.

She has big shoes to fill, and I don't care for the way she chooses to fill them.

So far she has been in a handful of episodes....sleazing it up, lying, blackmailing, and generally making me cringe with her cold fish vampiness.

And just from the spoilers, I doubt I will be liking her any time soon.

But we'll see.

Recasts are the way of the world in soaps.

IMO, there are some characters that just can't be recast, but for me, Liza isn't one of them.

I enjoyed MW as Liza, but I was never that big of a fan of the character.

Jamie Luner is a good actor, no doubt about that.

But so far I'm not enjoying Liza's return to Pine Valley.

It's the writing, not the recast, and certainly not the actor. I can get past the age difference.

Considering how fast and loose AMC has played with SORASING and DESORASING these past few years I just accept it.

My problem is that the person I'm seeing on screen bares little resemblance emotionally to the Liza I saw for so many years.

At this point, they can talk about the old days, have her interact with "old" characters from Liza's past, but so far she seems like a completely new character.

Maybe it would have been best to capitalize on JL's obvious talents and not saddle her with a legacy character. Time will tell.

I really like NuLiza.

She has that old twinkle in her eye that MW had when she first returned.

This Liza reminds me more of the Liza that I liked rather than the defeated one who left PV.

Jamie Luner is doing her job as written, and I think she's a good actress.

I liked MW, but didn't pay much attention to her Liza in the 2 years I saw her (2003-04), and know little of her past.

So I can't really compare, except on the age thing--she doesn't appear to be in Tad or Jesse's age range, which is where Liza is.

And MW Liza could be cool & calculating, but JL's Liza just seems 'cold fish' right now.

Again, though, that's in the writing--JL has to play Liza as written. Teri

For me, age or the not accepting a re-cast/only MW bias, is not the problem. the problem is...i'm just not feeling her as Liza.

I don't find she has connected w/ anyone...be it w/ characters she has ties w/ or those she just met.

There's also a lack of subtlety...she needs to tone it [that sex pot persona]down.

IMO it really makes the character one note and Liza may have been a lot of things, but that def wasn't one of them.

She was complexed and well, now...hardly at all. therefore, as far as i'm concerned...DEFINITE MIS-CAST, for this role!

I am already used to JL as Liza, but the age difference is absolutely there in plain sight.

I guess I never liked the character, so it's not as big a deal for me. Over the years I've liked some recasts a lot (Opal, Jake, for instance) and disliked others tremendously (Babe, Greenlee #2). As far as who should have been chosen, it's not important because it's already done.

It's a shame that the actress who played Hannah wasn't a few years late.

She might have been a good recast.

I like nuLiza so far.

I actually don't mind recasts, especially when we know the actor does not want to come back.

I would only mind a recast if it were a legacy character, i.e.

Erica or Adam, someone llike that. I never minded the recast of Greenlee.

I got used to her very quickly.

^^ Also, as said above, the recasts of Opal and Jake were very good.

Never liked Jake at all until RPG came along. My beef with the Liza character is that there are SO many other characters I would rather see, other than Liza.

I haven't really liked her since she was in high school.

I would rather see Dixie return (only Cady) or Brooke (only JB), or Janet From Another Planet, played by either Kate or Heather. I can see why they did recast Liza, though, because she can interact with the Chandler family, Jake, Tad, etc.

Etc.

I don't mind re-casts myself, loved when SS took over for RB.

However, there needs to be some continuity of character or at least an explanation as to why that person appears to act so differently.

JL is 10 years younger at least than her contemporaries and she is much more overtly sexual than Liza ever was...these two things are HUGE and GLARING differences that one can't help but notice.

The smoky voice, hair swinging, purse-lipped posturing is just not Liza Colby!

JL is gorgeous and that hair!

(another glaring difference ), but it's going to take awhile for her to grow on me.

Now that we're seeing her with Colby, Tad, Jesse...yeah, I'm getting into her.

I look forward to scenes with Marian. They had pretty much turned MW's Liza from a scheming vixen to a boring frump, so I'm glad to see this version of Liza. Honestly, the actor's age differences didn't bother me much in the scenes with Jesse and Tad as much as I thought it would.

What I REALLY want to see is Liza and Angie going at it! I think Jamie Luner is still finding her footing a bit, but I have to say I'm enjoying her much more than I thought. NuScott, NuLiza, Marissa...good job AMC casting department!

H . Me not like NotNuLiza at all and its solely the ACTING ...I feel like i'm watching the 'female' version of the most hated Male character on the show years of acting don't make 'you' a talented actor or even a decent one-it just gives you a title...

Well I never liked MW's Liza because she turned her into a soft-spoken Martin wanna-be.

MW's Liza in the early 80s was great, but she evolved and I didn't like the change.

This one seems a bit tougher, more true to what Sliza is supposed to be .

. . so we'll see.

I'm glad Jesse didn't embrace her, that's for sure.

I hope they don't soften her up.

This is not Liza because the character is to robotic for me.

Liza had depth and this one does not.

Probably the worst recast on AMC ever. I just can't feel the history when she talks about it, just feels artificial, plus the acting doesn't help it either Quote: : The problem is she is so unbelievable as a contemporary of the group Liza is supposed to be a part of.

Its hard to look past I completely agree!

The jury's still out for me.

I thought she was more natural today ...

Which is good. But I still hope she tones down the sexy stuff (why throw her arms around Jake after what had transpired?) and just becomes the character.

And I say that w/o even having a good grasp of the character ...

But in a lot of her scenes seem disconnected to me.

Sharing more scenes with her daughter, Tad, etc., will hopefully help.

I am hating nuliza - the big age discrepancy is NOT working for me.

I mean I know it is a soap opera, but why act like we are all stupid??

Just bring on a new character or atleast keep the rewrite within a decade (or 2) of the previous actor

I love Nu Liza and her sexy deep voice.

Sophistication. And I loved Marcy Walker.

The only issue is the age, she cannot be Colby's mother.

I think the Colby recast is the big problem here, Nu Colby has not improved.

Not feeling NuLiza at all.

And oddly enough it's not even the drastically different age/appearance.

There has been no chemistry and she just comes across as "disconnected" with everyone she has interacted with.

I'll guess you could chalk this up to a warming up period of a recast, But IMO there have been plenty of recasts that just hit the ground running and were spot on in portrayal and chemistry.

JL as Opal has been phenomenal and spot on.

RPG was fantastic from day one and had tons of chemistry/immediate connection with almost everyone he interacted with.

And it didn't take me long to warm up to NuScott, got the chemistry and connections especially with Stuart, he settled into the role quickly. But it's not just the chemistry/connection with characters it's how NuLiza acts.

First there is her reintroduction not a good start and def not Liza.

She finds out about Adam's murder, instead of running straight to Colby she goes to Zack.

When she finds out it's Stuart, instead of going straight to Marion she goes to vamp up Tad.

She came to town to help Jake cause she owed him one, instead she ends up blackmailing and turning on her friend. If it doesn't look like a Liza and it doesn't act like a Liza then it's not a Liza!

Quote: : If it doesn't look like a Liza and it doesn't act like a Liza then it's not a Liza!

Perfect summary. I don't mind the fact that there was a recast.

I just don't think they made the right choice with this one.

They really could have and honestly should have introduced her as a brand new character.

I know MW is not coming back so i look at notliza as a stranger that justed poped in to PV,she just don't fit

I love Jamie Luner as Liza.

The only problem I had was the way they were writing her.

They were writing her almost like Dixie in which she was keeping her return a secret from almost everyone.

Now she is starting to blow through town like a hurricane and I am excited for and can't wait to see the path of destruction she leaves in her wake.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, but so far, i'm not feeling her.

I don't know what it is, her mannerisim, her voice, her acting, but imo, she's not connecting with the other cast.

So far, i've enjoyed her with tad at the hospital.

I enjoyed colby in their scenes and nothing about her and zach's interaction

As I said, I'm just going to try and get used to her as Liza.

Better than no Liza...

^ No Liza is better than one that Pratt is making unrecognizable and will eventually ruin the character I could have bought Beth Ehlers as Liza Quote: : If it doesn't look like a Liza and it doesn't act like a Liza then it's not a Liza!

Quote: : Fan ^ No Liza is better than one that Pratt is making unrecognizable and will eventually ruin the character I agree.

For the longest time I was hoping that Liza or Brooke would come back.

Now that we have Liza I wish she had stayed gone.

I'd rather remember her the way she was then have this new version shoved down my throat.

Quote: : This is not Liza because the character is to robotic for me.

Liza had depth and this one does not.

I agree, she seems so sleazy and tries to be sexy all the time GMAB

I love this Liza and have from the beginning.

I think this IS Liza, just with red hair.

I can so see Liza wearing a pregnancy pillow and convincing everyone she was pregnant to get Amanda's baby.

That is so Liza to me.

She was always conniving.

Even the way she tends to look sideways at people when she is trying to figure them out, I remember the character doing that. Someone said she was the Phyllis (Y&R) of AMC, and although I don't watch Y&R I know that character, and I agree there are similarities, and not just because of the red hair.

I don't understand her need to be in vixen mode all the time, even when she is talking to her daughter, Colby. A big thumbs down to NuLiza.

I'm not feeling her.

I could have gotten behind Beth Ehlers as Liza.

Age wise nuLiza would have been a better fit with Brott.

The actresses should just switch roles.
