Successful governments are usually liked - not loved - by the people.
There is not much difference between d em ocr acy and other forms of government.
People like tough and just rulers because they give them the feeling of security.
Softies are losers and this is universally accepted.

I believe that this is possible as long as the laws of the country are observed but they certainly belong to a minority and wont have any effect on political decisions.

Originally a dull question
The difference between idiot and person with normal intelligence is on whether they know they should not say something meaningless.
There weren’t any country in history of mankind can be loved or just to be recognized by people without the success of one it’s government.
It is simply void to say a government rather than a country can be loved or hated unless the governing group takes no responsibility to make the success of a country.

Of course. People have done it for centuries.
The same poison pens against tyrants would often write fawning praise for their homelands.
It's a cherished tradition throughout the world to love one's country and hate the rat b@stards who run it.

Of course, especially when the government works against the majority will of people.

In the WEST governments are restricted
A - by a certain time period
and
B - by the will of the people (election)
The country itself remains the same all the time.
In some countries both remain the same all the time.
Or, Am I wrong ?

Yes it is perfectly possible to love a country without liking the government.
Countries are a man-made representation of culture, tradition, language, faith and other things.
Speaking metaphorically, it is what makes the people and defines them.
The government on the other hand isn't.
Governments come and go and change all the time.
The reason why some people get shouted down when criticising the Chinese government is because those doing the shouting are immature and unstable individuals who look for any excuse to be hostile.

... And unsuccessful ones force their captive school populations to memorise:
"I love my country, its flag, its king/president/executive chieftain..."
In China's case, the country demanded (in the past anyway) even more lip services such as "I love my school/teachers" -

To Love Your Country, Do You Have To Love Your Government ?
Your country or your motherland is just like your parents, your mother and father
You must love them
Government is just like our elder brothers, who managed us
If they govern in a good manner, we should also love them
If they can't govern in a good manner, we should hate them
If we are born in Iraq, as an Iraq citizen, we should also love Iraq as our Motherland
But we should hate the government who failed to give security to the people
Being a Chinese living in China is one of the luckiest things in life
We love our Motherland
We also love our government, for their tremendous achievement for people
Surely, our elder brother (our government) is not a superman, they are not perfect
There are still many problems to be solved
But there's no doubt, they are the best on Earth !!!
Please note that a great leader won't satisfied everyone

If they govern in a good manner, ...
"You must..." is an order such as the general's barked order, "Soldiers: Halt!
Salute!"
How can there be any love?
Love must be reciprocal.
A country that doesn't love its "children" to continue using the somewhat misleading metaphor in the post above) doesn't have the right to demand love.
There are good "motherlands" (or "fatherlands"), and there are the many also-rans.
A few are downright rotten (I didn't count CHina to be in the last category).

Some motherlands are modern constructs aswell.
Crampachingly holding together through poor governace and sparse reasources.
When it eventually burst, it turns violent, because there have been no room for talking in advance
