Poll: Labour Fear - Pregnancy: 3rd Trimester at WebMD
I'm pretty much a li le bit scared of every single aspect of labor there is!!!
I do NOT want to be induced so I definitely am scared of that as well.
Scared of the pain in general since my bhc have been relatively painless and I'm still not too sure what to expect as far as that goes.
Scared of tearing (but not that scared)
Scared of having a labor that lasts like 10 days (lmao!)
Scared of having to push for a long time.
Scared of the possibility of an emergency c-section (though I have no reason to think I'll need one, and my doctor said she does everything she can to prevent them)
Scared of being going overdue (because I really might kill someone at that point)
Scared of her size (dr said she "won't be small" which isn't too bad but I'm pretty small myself so that makes me a little nervous!)

Even though this is my first, I'm not really scared about labor.
It will be what it will be.
I'm more worried about doing the right things while taking care of my daughter.
I'm afraid of her crying and not being able to figure out what is wrong, if anything is wrong.

Tiffany.... I think every new mom proly feels like that!
Try not to worry too much, you'll be fine.
Babies cry, unfortunately soemtimes for no reason.
I really like the book "Happiest Baby on the Block" by Harvey Karp(sp) Its all about comforting babies, especially in the early months.
The hospital I had my boys at actually teaches a class using its techniques.
Its a quick easy read,too!

I am more at ease with this one than my 1st.
I am afraid of being overdew.
I am afraid she will get too big.
I am afraid of my water breaking in public (they broke my water with my 1st).
I am afraid of it hurting too much since I don't plan on using meds.
I am afriad of it lasting too long....
Ok, I take it back, I am afriad of a lot!

1. This one is already coming true...
I'm scared that I'll have so many false starts that i'll be exhausted by the time it really happens..
2.
I'm scared of tearing again.
I had a 3rd degree tear with DD and it hurt!!!
3.
I'm worried about having to be induced!

I'm afraid of who will be taking care of DS1 while I'm in labor and DH is with me because of medications and diet and such.
I guess I'm afraid of going into labor spontaneously and "inconveniently" because I didn't last time;
I was induced.
I'm a little bit afraid of not knowing when to go to the hospital too although that doesn't worry me too much unless I'm alone with DS1 and not knowing and I end up giving birth in the house with just DS1 here...
Other than that, it is what it is.

I'm really too worried about labor itself.
I am slightly afraid of not making it to the hospital.
I went in to the hospital with DS2 to be induced at 4.5cm without being in active labor.
They broke my water and he was out 45mn later.
It was fast and he was never engaged in my pelvis before my water broke.
I'm a little worried that if I dialate like that again with out real labor and my water breaks on its own I won't make it b/c I know this little guy is fully engaged already.
The hospital is 20mn in no traffic, up to 40-45 in bad traffic.
Not a huge pressing concern, but it has crossed my mind.

I'm scared it won't go as quickly and easily as last time and I'll need an epi.
I'm scared this baby is going to be huge!
DS was 8lbs9oz but probably would've been over 9.5lbs if I'd gone the full 40w.
Everyone says the 2nd one is bigger, just hoping that the OWT of the 2nd one coming earlier holds true as well is that is the case.
I tore pretty badly with DS and the actual tearing part wasn't so bad, it was the week that I couldn't sit right and the 8w of healing afterward that killed me.
I got checked at 6w, doc said no go for lovin', at 8w I got a "yellow light" but was told to wait until 9 or 10 to get a green light.
So if I could not tear as badly as last time, that would be great.

I am afraid of going overdue...
Because I already want him out and I still have 4 weeks.
I am totally afraid of emergency C-section.
I am afraid of the cord around his neck.
But, I want to tell most of you that being induced with my first wasn't that bad, and I am not afraid if they have to do that again.
Just get him out safely.

I'm just scared that due to some complication I won't be conscious for the birth and I'll wake up 3 days later not pregnant and not knowing what happened.
Every other fear I pretty much got over.
I guess I'm still scared of nobody being able to watch Dd and having to take her with me.

Lurking... Tracey, when dd came out, she had the cord around her neck twice and was holding it and was perfectly fine.
It didn't effect her at all to have it there.
(they also said she had the longest cord they'd seen in a while) I think it's fairly common for the cord to be around their necks, if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah about the cord, I've heard it's pretty common also!
Scary but maybe not as much as we think...?
I've watched a lot of shows on tv about birth (as I'm sure we all have, so I'm not proclaiming to be an expert based on that, lol) and it seems like they ALWAYS have the cord wrapped loosely around their necks, at least once, but sometimes twice.
Even still, I'm frightened of that as well.

I'm not really scared of that much this time--not scared of being induced since I was with DD and it went really well for me;
Not scared of the epi because I had one last time and again it went really well;
Not scared of tearing because I did with DD (2nd degree tear) and it healed perfectly and I don't know whether it hurt more than if I hadn't torn because, well, that was my first and I tore, so I have nothing to compare it to!
My two biggest fears are #1--going too early and having another NICU baby.
Each day that passes brings me further away from that fear, and every BP check and urine check brings me more resolution to my fear as well.
So far, 32w 4d and going strong!
#2 fear is the same as what Molly mentioned--the "inconvenience" and bad timing of labor happening.
Induction, while not ideally planned in my pregnancy last time, made things very easy for us in regards to getting family here and such.
And induction this time around would make life so much easier as we have DD already, and if I went into labor at say, 3AM, I'd either have to bring her with us until a more humane hour of the morning when I can call friends/have my parents show up (from 5 hours away) or I'll have to be THAT woman that calls her friends at 3AM to come and take care of her child!!
So I just have to cross my fingers for say, 36+ weeks (preferably 37+, but I'll hedge my bets) and labor during the day!!

I really have no fears over a long labor or pain.
I am doing everything I am capable of to prepare both physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I do worry about un-necessary interventions, being induced, and God-forbid an emergency C section.

Cant really say i am afraid of any part of it but the pitocin, that stuff is TERRIBLE..
But i am making sure the epi is close behind it!

I'm afraid of tearing (or having to be cut)
I'm afraid of needing a c-section for whatever reason.
I'm afraid of pooping/peeing on the doc!!
Lol and my husband witnessing it - I know it happens, but that doesn't make it any less mortifying!!

Stephanie.... LOL...
I forgot but I am scared of the Pooping thing too....
My little sister pooped on the table, but I didn't let her know until way after delivery She kept saying I feel like a have to go number 2, and I told her that it is normal for that feeling, because the baby is right there....
And later after delivery she said to me that wow it was crazy I really felt like I had to poop and I said after I stopped laughing that yeah you DID.
We still laugh about it now, so I don't want to do it so she can laugh at me.
