GNOME Support Forums :: View topic - How to install "GKRELLM" on GNOME under Redhat 8.0
Hi,
I need to use gkrellm on my GNOME 2.0 and I down load the actual rpm gkrellm from RHN.
But is my understanding that I need to get an rpm that will allow me to use gkrellm on gnome.
There are a few rpm on the net but those are for the old RH <= 7.3.
Does any one has any idea were I can find a rpm, or what do I need to do in order to be able to use gkrellm under GNOME?
Thx for your Help

Have you already tried the rpms from Freshrpms?

The one at the top of that page works fine for me
i'm using it right now with gnome 2...
It has some issues with metacity though.
I've heard devilspie fixes those, but i can't get it to compile on my machine

As many of my "old clunkers" still run RH7, I have not upgraded any machines to GKrellM 2.
I run GKrellM's for all my machines, using rexec, hence they all sit on my workstation desktop.
Upgrading to GKrellM 2 would require a mixture of 1.x and 2.x versions.
So, question, is there anything super-good in v2 that was not in v1?
I know about the client-server stuff, that sounds great.
I wonder if I could run that but have the client run on Gnome 2 while the server runs on an older Gnome 1.2 based system...
