Geneseo Area Gaming Group • View topic - Wrath of the Lich King
Here's the WoW Insider article .
Note the "update 2" and if you go to WowInsider's parent site, Joystiq, they're reporting the same thing.
The German version of the ESRB has a rating listed for WoW;
Wrath of the Lich King.

Northrend makes sense, as it's the last area that was covered in any depth in one of the Warcraft series.

It seems like the issue though is that Northrend seems to be about a zone's worth of space at the top of the map.
If they intend to release a small continent for lack of a better term, each expansion, will northrend suffice?

Going from the map on the loading screen of WC3, Northrend is about the size of Lordaeron, which is in turn about the size of Outland.
The real question is, will I be able to ride my gryphon around IF?

I am both excited and dreading a new WoW expansion.
On the one hand, <3 new content, but I'd hate to have BC be over and not get to experience Black Temple like I didn't get to see Naxxramas.
I know that any potential expansion is still six months away at best, but that seems like a short amount of time to master all of SSC/TK/BT/Hyjal (considering it took us almost two months to master Kara).

Live Blog of the wrath of the lich king session at blizzcon.
Some highlights
More zones than in outland 2 starting zones Deathknights are unlockable as a playable class at level 80, you can then roll a new deathknight that starts at level 55, 60, 70 (they are not sure what level yet exactly) Deathknights are a tank/DPS hybrid.
They will tank with a twohander or dual weilding no shileds Deathknights have a totally different mechanic than mana/rage/energy, they use runes (read the link for a more specific description) They are not sure they will work on better mid-level content, but they do want to speed up the 1-60 and 1-70 grind.
Probably adding a new CoT instance.
There is at least one more unannounced raid zone planned before the expansion There are more daily quests coming in the next patch-- a dungeon daily quest, a battleground daily quest, and a cooking daily quests (cheers).
All races will be able to be deathknights <Zul'jin: Garthin>

Another Live Blog from Blizzcon, this one from the raids and dungeons forum.
Not specifically WoLK related though tangentially.
Some highlights:
They are considering another 5 man before Lich King is released They are considering going back to Naxx when we get to Northrend so that small groups can experience Naxx, but thye have limited resources so who knows...
Q: Who fixed the balancing cleave bug, since it helped rogues greatly;
Fear as a raid mechanic is a great pain in the Mother Sharaz fight, will you move away from that, or will we just have to suck it up.
A: Scott: Fear ward.
We are going to do something about FW for the Horde, they are tired of dealing with the imbalance of Fear in instances, so we have to be careful Jeff: we are working on a system on the wow default interface like Outfitter and Item Rack.
We can give you real space to store the extra junk.
Awesome!
UI mods are a huge part, they will add a threat meter into the game!
They are also talking about adding a Deadly Boss Mods element into the game Yay again!
That will definitely help <Zul'jin: Garthin>

This thread has some ui news.
Unique identifiers for all mobs(even with the same name), pets and players.
"threatmeter" integration of some sort, likely a very toned down version of what is currently out, they mentioned a "green, yellow, red" type of integration.
Boss Mod integration - some sort of bar system that's similar to what's currently in place via the boss mods(vendetta/bigwigs)
Outfitter like mod - but with their ability to "we have the advantage since we have the power to give you some place to put the gear" - or something like that
Guild event/calendars were hinted at as something to assist with raid formation.
I don't think it is specifically WoLK related.
I do recall a teasing blue post intimating that big changes to combat log parsing were coming in 2.4.
Some of those things are clearly who knows when type of additions, but I think unique identifiers for mobs with the same name could be coming as soon as 2.4 which would be nice for threatmeters and such.
Outfitter mod with storage for your gear sets would be the hottest thing ever.
My druid and pally can each easily fill 2 to 3 bags with different gear sets and combinations.

MMO Champion has a ton of collected info.
And this deserves quoting
All raid dungeons in Wrath of the Lich King will have both 10-person and 25-person versions.
So at level 80, every major encounter and every big boss fight can be experienced with a group of 10.
(Gamespy.com)
25-person raiding progression is not dependent on 10-person raiding progression.
(Gamespy.com)
There will be no attunements or keys to obtain, and you won't be locked out of a 25-person instance if you decide to attempt the 10-person version, and vice-versa.
(Gamespy.com)
25-person raids will earn more, higher-level rewards, in what should be the equivalent of one "tier" of loot quality.
(Gamespy.com)
A new instance focused on the different dragonflights "The Chamber of Aspects" might be added to the game, but this isn't confirmed yet.
(Gamespy.com)
Zero raid bosses have been designed at this point.
(Gamespy.com)
This is a brilliant and stunningly obvious idea.
And means awesome things for our guild.
It means we can experience all the content they design for next patch!
