Newbie Zodiac question - PalmInfocenter Forum
Whats the difference between Zodiac 1 and 2?
On Amazon, someone posted a message about the video player.
They said the one Zodiac comes with is not good & to get a MMPlayer.
Is this additional software to buy or something i can download?
I'm sorry to sound dumb but, I plan on getting this as an Xmas gift for my husband (who REALLY should put down his PalmIII).
I KNOW he will want to use the MP3 , and videoplayer features .
I just want to make sure I buy any add ons he may need to get the most out of this player.
If anyone responds, please reply in layman terms, I dont know what WIFI or any of these technical terms mean.

Your husband should be real happy come Christmas morning.
The only difference between the Zodiac 1 and 2 is the color of the case and the amount in internal memory.
The Zodiac 1 has 32MB and the Zodiac 2 has 128MB.
The difference in price is $100 for over 3 times the amount of memory.
If your budget will allow go for the Zodiac 2, otherwise the Zodiac 1 is a fine choice.
Rather than fiddling around with downloads and stuff for the movie player, why don't you get him some extra SD cards to put the MP3 and movies on?
Let him figure out about the movie players, etc.
Just be sure to include the URL's for this forum http://www.palminfocenter.com and Tapland at http://www.tapland.com so he can ask questions and get help if he needs it.

I posted a question in Tapland too.
He really enjoys different types of electronics (I call them his toys, lol), so I just want to make sure that when he opens the package, he doesnt have to buy a ton of stuff just to make it work.
I hope when he gets this, he buys me that outfit I just HAVE to have, lol

hmm, a lil late now, but i got some free time on my hands
Yeah, mmPlayer is an alternative to Kinoma2.
It's a vid player bundled with the Zods (implying Zodiac 1 and 2).
Altho it's bundled, that app is actually only a trial version.
U won't be able to make full use of it until u pay for a registration code to unlock all the features.
No matter which of the 2 vid player apps u use, you're gonna need to buy that application.
My suggestion is to let your husband decide.
He can fiddle with both of them, ask questions here and elsewhere, then spend $$ on which works best for him.
The mp3 plyaer for Zods are great from wat i hear.
Loud Stereo speakers, neat mp3 player software, and a yamaha chipset to support that.
No Extra $$ needed for that except an SD card to store the music on it (may not be able to play music right off the Zod's internal RAM ...
Aka the Zod's internal memory)
As for 1 or 2, better to go 2.
Ppl argue u can get the zod1 and use the $$ u save for a big 1GB SD card, but memory cards aren't always a substitute for internal RAM.
Having more is preferable to not having enough
